So what's up with the sound? Will a TV show with the sound that Queen or Adam on his own puts out not sound right? I mean it does make me want to see if I can hear everything better on the actual show since all the fan vids sound muted. Just weird because Adam always said on Idol that the feed directly from the microphone was really dry since you didn't get the audience or the bounce around the arena but I'm hoping the opposite here.

This was filmed by a fan. I don't know if on a cell phone or small camera, but the device may not pickup all sound frequencies. Or it may be using a low pass filter to filter out bass sounds that might overwhelm it. Or it may be using a limiter to automatically compress the sound if it goes over the distortion level. The TV film crew will he using much better audio recording equipment than the fan's phone/camera. But also, the show might not have used as high quality speakers as QAL uses. I went to a couple of Pink arena concerts, and the speakers were about half the size as those used by QAL and the sound was not nearly as good. QAL really puts money into their sound quality! But also likely that the FOH (front of house, i.e. audience) sound mix was not as good as QAL's. Harder to get it right on a one off-show with multiple artists. But the TV show would likely be using the sound recorded directly off the mics and throw in some of the audience sound to create their on audio mix.

About QAL and their speakers: When I had a backstage tour in London this summer another fan asked particulary about the huuuge speakers left and right above the stage. He said, he has attended many concerts, but never in his life had he seen such huge speakers. Andy, the stage manager, told us, that they’re kind of special, the best ofthe best, so to say. Each of them also weighed 3 tons! But we were told that each of the chains holding it, can carry 1 ton, so we‘re fine ( we were staying right under one of the speakers). So yeah, there’s not much better (if at all) than QAL‘s equipment. In every way.

So yeah, there’s not much better (if at all) than QAL‘s equipment. In every way. My last night at the London O2 concerts, I was sitting in the stands just above Spike and practically under one of those big speakers. I was afraid that the sound would be rather distorted there, but it was good! And my recording was good. QAL has the best sound quality of any show that I have been too! BTW nightowl , is that 3 tons per each speaker, or 3 tons for the pair of them? ETA - It's 3 tons per each of those 2 huge speaker arrays. I found the old article about their equipment setup, which says each of those huge front facing speakers consists of 14 i-5D speaker modules from Clair Global. I looked up the specs. Each module weighs 435 pounds. That's 3 tons for 14 modules to form 1 of those big front facing speaker arrays on each side of the stage! There are also side hangs of 12 i-5s on each side of the arena and rear hangs of 8 i-5s. By my calculations, that's 50 i-5s for a total weight of 10.875 tons. And that does not include the smaller soeakers over the B-stage or the on stage monitors. www.mixonline.com/live-sound/rhapsodizing-with-queen-adam-lambert modules

I think it must be the show's speakers because it was the same from multiple vantage points, could hardly hear Adam. Or all the filmers were trying to hide their phones and covering up their microphones) I'm looking forward to hearing the show in full sound.
