So, who exactly is on this top 200 list and who chose them? What is their criteria? These lists make me crazy. If you want to talk about singing ability and not popularity or taste, many in the business have said Adam is the best of this generation. No longer really a Celine Dione fan (used to be, my tastes have changed), but you can't deny her ability either.

So, I have just read through the list. I agree some should be in the top 200 but others, no way. I won't mention names because everyone has their own fans and their own taste. But, this list is a bit ridiculous. If Freddie is in the top 20 -Adam definitely deserves to be there. Even Brian admits Adam can do things that Freddie couldn't. Yet another snub for Adam, they just won't give him anything.

I don’t think of Adam not being on this list as a snub, because, if it is, he’s in good company. These lists are intended to stir up controversy with vague criteria like “influence” on music scene, originality, etc. it is also an attempt by some music snobs to list people who are not as well known or whose influence is in a specific niche genre. It was not compiled by musicians themselves, or doubtless Adam would have been listed.
I think Taylor Swift is an excellent business woman, and if sales of music represent influence, then she, Beyoncé, and Adele make the list, hands down. I’m not trying to justify or contribute to Rolling Stone’s readership, but these lists create buzz and it is more about that than who is a good singer. It would be interesting to see a list done by musicians. But all of us have seen movies or heard songs or read books that we love that never receive recognition. Adam’s goal of longevity in the business is happening, and I think Sir Brian May and Cher among other musicians’ opinions contribute more to Adam’s goal than some RS “contributor” whose interest is reggae musicians from Australia or some such.

I went thru the list yesterday only to see if Adam was there. A bit disappointed that he wasn't and a waste of my time, lol. But didn't get upset because he was missing. Knew just looking at it that is was not really about the best vocalists. Was surprised there was no Harry Styles. Not because I think he is a wonderful singer but he is the IT guy of today along with Billie and Taylor (who are not great singers either) but very popular and influential now. It seemed a bit silly to call them the 200 greatest singers, tho, when many of them are not considered great singers. And you never hear the press bragging about what great singers some of them are. Successful, yes. But it was their list and they made the call. HA!

I just figure Adam will get more positive attention for being seen as unjustly omitted than he would have gotten if he'd been one of the 200 on the list.
