Lurleene, thanks once again for your comments about the gay/straight actors thing. You said it perfectly. And Adam clarified his comment very nicely, too. Love the kind words said about Adam being able to show up for the role and really nail it right away. Hope this leads to more roles for him. He said he was approached to do the role. So apparently he didn't audition for it. It was offered. Adam looks great! He comes across as smart, articulate and politically and socially aware. Yep. And Adam is right, coming out should not be career suicide. And it should not limit their roles and only have them being played for laughs or death. There can be drag queens and men in little girls cutesy clothing and that is fine but that should not be the major representation of gay men as Billy Eichner sated when he promoted his movie. And Mayor Pete's husband said that being gay is not a performance of being gay. There are gay men who are doctors, lawyers, teachers, military, students, fathers, musicians, politicians, actors just like straight men. Sometimes you would not even know their sexuality unless they told you. And most are not hiding or faking they are being themselves. So it would be great to allow gay actors to play any roles that they are suited for. Adam only had a small part in Moonbase but there was nothing about his sexuality and he did fine. When they did a remake of The Magnificent Seven, Matt Bomer had a small part of a husband who was killed. Nobody blinked. So they should be able to play the leads or have major roles, gay or straight if they fit. Expand their opportunities and representation. An exciting time and accomplishment for Adam. |
