Stormy Weather Ahead
1.22.12 by Q3
It’s finally time. This week BTIKM goes for both Pop and Hot AC radio adds in the US and Canada. Stations will report their playlist adds on Monday 1.23.12 and Tuesday 1.24.12.
This is the critical test for BTIKM – will it get support from a lot of radio stations or will it be a slow slog up the charts?
Plus, this week we will see more interviews, including: DishofSalt/Laura Saltman and ET Canada on Monday.
DishofSalt Laura Saltman WOW!!! So impressed by these Adam questions. Great job Adam fans. I will try and get to as many as I can for you on Monday.
Then later in the week, Adam will head off to Austria for an industry showcase performance and what is starting to look like a whirlwind trip through Europe with stops in Austria, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, and maybe the UK.

Finally, although we have no release date for the BTIKM music video, there are hints that it will be released late this week – most likely on Friday 1.27.12 on AdamOfficial.com and VH1. (Not confirmed.)

Rejecting the Labels
1/22/2012 by NoAngel
This past week we had two TV appearances and several radio interviews, along with an exciting flood of tweets, articles, and reviews about Adam from various media sources in the U.S. and beyond. One thing that fans notice right away is the words used to describe Adam. We are thrilled to see "Grammy-nominated," "singer-songwriter," and "global pop star." Less pleased when we read "American Idol runner-up" and "openly gay." It's been more than two years since Adam told us he was "so hot out the box," but people still try to stick a label on him so that he will neatly fit into a box that makes sense to them. In the same way, Adam's fans are labeled in ways that sometimes make us proud and other times make us seethe.
It is human nature to categorize, and the way people deal with things they don't understand is to try to figure out where they fit in their known world. There is comfort in being able to put something neatly in its place, but the trouble is, some things are not easily tucked into an identifiable box. Adam has defied categorization since we've known him. He was an American Idol contestant who didn't really fit any of the cookie-cutter personas the show likes to feature. He's a celebrity with good manners and a penchant for promoting others. "Edgy with a smile," as Adam once said, which kind of confuses people who prefer more straightforward good guy/bad guy labels.
As for us, we've been called all sorts of names by outside observers as well as fellow fans, not all of them flattering. Ryan Seacrest's ageist spin on Adam's fanbase during his interview on Friday stirred up intense feelings amongst fans who resented being labeled and demeaned.
No matter how comforting it may be to use labels to make sense of our world, they are inherently both exclusionary and limiting. How much more interesting life would be if we weren't so quick to tag something or someone but rather embraced complexity and nuance. I think Adam does this quite well. When pressed to label his music, Adam prefers to talk about the variety he brings to the table and the genres he blends. When people try to fit him into a category, he discusses his evolution as an artist and a person. He talks about the many sides to his personality and the complexity of his inner world. And inevitably, when baited to label his fans, Adam talks about diversity and how we can all party together.
Adam recently said that "the Universe always sends you wake-up calls." I think maybe the fandom's response to the Seacrest interview might be a reminder for all of us to think about the labels we put on ourselves, and the labels we attach to others.
No one word or phrase can adequately capture a person's spirit. Surely it takes many songs to do that
