Interview covered a lot of territory. Could have done with a little less about Idol but I'm always glad tho that Adam gives Idol credit for helping him kick start his career. Adam, Daughtry, Carrie, Kelly and a few of the other real successful Idols always thank Idol for helping them get their starts. Many who did not become big stars seem to knock Idol in interviews and blame them for where their careers stand when stardom was not going to be the future for most of them. A lot of them are very bitter about Idol but Idol only gave them exposure. It was up to them and their label/management to make their careers happen. Even David Archuleta still gives interviews many years after Idol about being traumatized by the Idol experience. He said he was 16 and struggling to understand his sexual identity and an overbearing father. Sure it may have been hard for him but how would Idol have known then or been responsible for his identity struggles or his dad? They would not know and even if they did, they invited him on the show to compete and it is unlikely a tv show could help a teen accept himself. He was a minor so he needed his parents to decide if he was ready and to keep him off the show until he could handle the pressure. When pictures surfaced of Adam kissing a former boyfriend, and it caused a big stir, Idol asked him how he wanted to handle it. He chose to ignore it and continue with the competition without addressing the pictures other than say yes it was him and he had nothing to hide. So they respected his choice and supported him without trying to exploit it for tv. They did right by him.
