Unfortunately the show cannot do anything about the country singers dominating and being voted thru by the audience. After Season 6, the WGWG's kept winning only to be replaced by country in later seasons. Going back to Adam's season, the show and judges clearly wanted him to win. He would have changed the look of Idol. But at that time, the South or red states had a lock on who could win and they still do mostly. That may have worked against Adam more than his sexuality (which did not help). But the success rate of the winners is dismal but voters are just happy to get the winners who suit their sensibilities.

Geeez... I wish that some Glamberts were a little less OTT on social media and realized that putting the judging panel down at the same breath as showing excitement for Adam isn't smart. I am excited too and I let that be heard, but I tend to avoid superlatives and putting others down while responding to a post about Adam. That being said, I too am tired of the same crop of artists that win Idol. I think it has to do with the viewing and voting demographic that loves humble white guys ideally with a guitar.

Agree about the putting down of the judges. I only ever watched Adam's season of AI, can't stand these talent shows lol, but I'm sure the show keeps putting through all the country/WGWG performers BECAUSE they get a big response from the voters. Got to have those voters if you want to keep the show going. IMO the show should have ended a long time ago...I don't think their current winners are any more successful than the Voice winners are. That's why they always show Kelly, Carrie, Jennifer and Adam as their promo success stories. |
