This is related to some of the things Adam has been discussing. So glad to see the White House making a move on some of these issues relating to children. I think drag queens going to court to fight for their rights to perform is a good thing. But there should be some coordinated government help out there with publishers and librarians and teachers to keep LGBT(it is not about sex) and civil rights discussions. These kids and their families and histories are under attack from bigoted politicians and hateful people going after any books that relate to LGBT or Race. I think a lot of people would be willing to join in that fight, as they did with same sex marriage, to keep history about certain groups from being erased. Adam LambertAdam Lambert came out as gay in 2009, not long after he appeared on American Idol. "It wasn't until the show was wrapping up that I realized everyone wanted me to come out, but I was already out!" he said at the time. "I've always been out. It was just never talked about because it had no bearing [on] what I was doing on stage." Since then, Lambert has consistently used his platform for LGBTQ advocacy. "I didn't have that many examples of how to go about things, and it was quite an adventure," Lambert told GayTimes.com. "Ten years later, I can see there's been so much progress, and there's so many more queer artists out there right now. We're now allowed in that space." How wonderful to see Adam listed as one of the LGBT rock icons! Not bad to be listed with Bowie, Elton, Janis, Little Richard, Freddie and Melissa, etc. And great that he and St. Vincent are younger and in 40-41 age range and hopefully have many more years to rock and make their marks. |
