Elvis Duran & the morning show just played a clip of Adam at Can’t Cancel Pride & said he’ll be in with them next week! Yeah, but he never plays any of Adam's music. Even after he has interviewed Adam, he doesn't do it. You would think he would want to support his own community, but I have never heard any of Adam's music on his show. So, I stopped listening to him. Has he happened to play any of Adam's songs except for the clip? What is WWHL? I saw the post about questions but is this some type of TV show. I know Cohen has some kind of show but have never seen it. It must be on a cable station. ? Elvis can't control what is played now unless it is a one time play with the interview? But I will never forget how he killed FYE (before the AMA's and when he did have a say) at the beginning of Adam's career. Some over excited fans were going on and on about how the song was all about being gay. Tho Adam did not write it and it was said the song was written for Britney instead of for Adam. But fans and radio people making it about his sexuality was not going to be helpful to him at that time. And that narrative got out there in the Universe and Elvis said he would never play the song. If the largest radio station with so much reach says they will not play it because it is somehow offensive, the song was dead before it even had a chance. And good that his label had already switched to WWFM before that unfortunate performance. And looking back, it seems ridiculous that anyone was reading anything into that song.

FYE lyrics ARE provocative...on another fan board (not Adam), somebody interpreted the lyrics as being about rape. The few fans Adam had on that board immediately renounced their support for him. It doesn't take much for some people to find offense, but those lyrics were provocative, doesn't matter who the song was written for.
BTW, I love the song, and the music lol. Not sure what that says about me.

Not sure what that says about me. Yep I get it people can make assumptions or interpret as they wish. But my guess is if Brittney or some rapper had recorded the song instead of the gay guy, it would have been played with no questions asked, lol. I remember how some were upset because Kelly Clarkson and John Legend changed the lyrics to "It's Cold Outside" because some today thought it was about rape. I have to admit that I always wondered when Adam sang Fever because of the line Your moms not home. How old is that person that you are worried about their mom, lol? But fans loved the song so there is that. I was never a big fan of the song but not because of that line. Didn't care for Cuckoo and many fans loved it too. I guess I'm more partial to his songs with emotions and feelings or those that are more rock oriented than pop but Adam gives something to everyone.

Visibility is so powerful. The LGBTQ community are under attack by the right - wing. (Again) Creating entertainment that represents the queer experience gives us strength and hope. It gives us inspiration. It makes us shed some of that shame and self-loathing that we grow up with. I'm so thrilled to be an artist during this time. There's still work to be done, but I am very proud of how far we have come, and what we have overcome. 🌈 #SharewithPride #PrideMusicMoment

I am not quite sure how much say Elvis Duran has, but "Froggy" who is on his show every morning and has been for years is the Program Director . So, the guy who would give the OK to play Adam's songs is on the show when Adam is being interviewed, but they don't play Adam. I just think it stinks, so I don't listen. I will listen to his podcast with Adam, if I can find it. FYE was written by Claude Kelly (grammy nominee several times, not sure if he ever won) and Dr. Luke and everyone has admitted it is about S&M. Yes, I think if it wasn't being sung by the gay guy,it would have done fine. I believe I remember it did well in some other countries. I know the visibility is phenomenal, so it is good for that. And I will watch/listen when Adam is on, but not otherwise.

Two songs that I wish Adam would sing more often live: The Original High and Another Lonely Night. Both of them should have been singles. I love their melodies and hooks. And they show off Adam's voice so well.
I don't know anything about Elvis Duran.
Looking forward to the Finland shows!
