Just listened to the link and I agree; definitely some similarities. Thanks! OT - noticed Jesse J's "Domino" video has 23,875,170 on Vevo! May I ask what is wrong with that? I like this song. But maybe I'm the only one... I like "Domino" a lot! Think it's very good. ETA: Shouldn't have used the "shocked" emoticon b/c what I wanted to convey was "wow; that's great!" Oops. I wasn't comparing the views of BTIKM to Domino. I just happened to see the number of views "Domino" had and posted it simply b/c it was such a high number; had nothing to do with liking the song or comparing it to the views for BTIKM; it was simply an observation of how many views it had gotten. Does anyone have a good mp3 of the long version of Trespassing from yesterday? I would really appreciate it because I am begging...I need this on my iPod and to burn a CD of it so I can listen to it over and over again in my car!!!!

No clue what the point is, but Domino's is a true video, not just the audio of a song w/a picture of the cover. It has also been on the radio for MONTHS - I first heard it eons ago on Sirius. It only really hit it big in the last month or 2, but it was around for ages before that. Comparing the video of a top played radio hit's actual video w/ the audio only of a new song that isn't even top40 in pop yet doesn't make any sense at all.

May I ask what is wrong with that? I like this song. But maybe I'm the only one... I don't think she is referring to the song likable or not BUT that BTIKM has just over 1 M views vs Jesse J's new song has over 23M...bascially the same time frame... therefore, maybe we take a look at our fandom and realize Adam is not quite as big as we see to think/or would like him to be. IDK... :( wait...hasn't the song Domino been out for a long(ish) time but is just now getting big? Also, this is an actual video for the song compared to BTIKM which is not the actual video yet. Not saying that 23M isn't an incredible number and that BTIKm will get that but I don't think these two things are totally comparable. Maybe I'm wrong, IDK. ETA: ah, I see pjd saying the same thing!  |

I like BTIKM. And it makes sense to me to have it the first single out months before the album. It resembles WWFM, the song that has the widest recognition factor, the song he got a Grammy nomination for. It's RCA's message: Remember this guy? Well, he is back! More new music to come! Frankly, musically and vocally, I think it is a better song than WWFM. A bigger range from low to high, soft to intense. It builds a stronger arc. Love the lush harmonies. And it can fit with HAC and top 40. Once the "pump is primed", then you give them the incredibly catchy, funky, new direction "Trespassing", just when the album is ready to drop. Zap! You got them. At least, that is my totally uninformed take on things. For me, it's all good. (Well, except for the "wait until March 20" thing.  ) Not going to happen, unless BTIKM flops and flops hard over the next month. BTIKM is the single that RCA has picked for opening this second era. Even if it only makes it on HAC, they will ride it out until it peaks and heads down the chart (or charts). This song is the lead single for this album. We aren't going to get a new single release in six weeks unless BTIKM goes nowhere and THAT is the last thing we should want. Plus, who knows what the next single could be? It could be something that isn't even on the album yet. WWFM was one of the last songs added to FYE. Claude Kelly is working on a brand new song for Trespassing at this time. RCA may want more songs that THEY FEEL are Pop radio ready. Trespassing, the single, may not even be in the running for the next released single. You really never know about these things! Good post! I actually think Cuckoo will be the next single but not until April, at the earliest. |

"Domino" was released August 29, 2011, the same day as MKIA. From Wiki:

BTW, note the same writer and producers as BTIKM. It has taken AGES for this song to climb and I like it. I heard it for the first time on KIIS today – a full five months after being released. (Not saying they haven't spun it, but I haven't heard it – I tend to listen during peak hours when they play their Top 10 hits.) BTIKM and "Domino" are NOT on the same time frame. This was actually the example I was planning to use as a "slow grower" before I got to the end of the thread. |
