 lurleene, thanks for posting that article. It adds to so much that we've learned about how songs reach the top of the the charts and how so many don't. It has little to do with the quality of the music itself or the talent of the performer (although plenty of really talented performers do make it to the top with good music.) It has much more to do with manipulating the whole system from the inside. Adam is in the same boat as so many other talented artists whose chances of reaching the top of the charts are pretty slim. Somehow, this all makes me feel a bit better. Yep. The manipulation has been obvious. But when they get them to top the charts (no matter how they got there) it pays off in award nominations, award show performances or wins. The results can be headlining arena shows because the exposure is so massive. Pop is the biggest offender and that is why so many try to get on charts in other genres when they no longer top the pop charts. And some were smart and never even tried to compete with they ever younger pop divas and guys. A Grammy is a Grammy even in the less popular genres. Just ask Bradi Carlile who recently won three Grammy's for Best Rock Performance/Best Rock Song/Best Americana Performance. And in the past she has won Grammys in Country and American Roots. I know I sound like a broken record but could someone please get Adam in some other genres besides pop where he might have a fighting chance and you don't need to sell as much, lol. He has a wonderful career and is in big demand but he is so deserving of some Grammy recognition. And he is so much more than a pop artist, imo. |
