I am not going to claim to have reached the end of the thread, because before I have hit Post Reply, it will be 10 pages ahead again I wanted to share my personal reaction to the video in light of the previews that we saw last week. As you know, the first thing we saw was a picture of Dark Adam. Then, we got the BTS video which showed us mostly the filming of the Light Adam. And then the 39 seconds snipped which was, once again, Light Adam. As result (and probably as planned), by brain was preconditioned to expect a completely different kind of video - one that is 90% Light Adam from beginning to almost the end, with some kind of Big Epic Reveal of Dark Adam around the end. Picture my surprise when the video started and it was 33 seconds of non-stop D.A. action before flipping to the Light Side. In retrospect it makes sense, since the first lines of the song are "Cold As Ice...", and before seeing the final product, I could not figure out how L.A. could deliver them in the context of his sunny environment. When I first saw the pomegranate, I also thought "Heart?" first before realizing what it really was. I am sure it was intended to appear this way. (Also watching at 12:01am helped a lot with the confusion) From my POV as visual effects guy, the only thing that looks slightly off is the "fire", but I am sure it was intended to be less realistic and rather otherworldly. So I am ok with it. I was slightly disappointed with BTIKM at the first hearing because I had heard the C.K. demo and felt Adam did not make it his own enough (it sounded too much like a white person trying to sound "black", if I may be less than P.C. for a second), but after the 3 live performances and the video, I am totally on board. just my 2 cents.

Where do you see those #s? On Vevo I only see 58,183, and on youtube Vevo 218,743. Do these 2 numbers get added together at some point because they're both Vevo, or do they stay separate? ??? The 1.2 million was a mistake. She was looking at the "behind the scenes" numbers. Phew! I'm almost to the end of the thread.. I noticed that clarification after I posted, but was too in the thick of the thread to add an ETA.. I had to keep my nose to the grindstone and keep plowing ahead if I was ever to finish.. ;D

Dark Adam is definitely crushing a pomegranate, but it looks very much like a heart and that's on purpose, I'm quite sure. If they'd wanted an actual heart in the vid, Ray Kay could have purchased a fake heart at the local prop shop for a few bucks, but I think they wanted people to be shocked for a moment, thinking that Dark Adam was crushing a heart in his hands. And then we zoom in and it's clearly a fruit. The symbolism of the pomegranate is mainly tied to Greek mythology: The myth of Persephone, the goddess of the Underworld, also prominently features the pomegranate. In one version of Greek mythology, Persephone was kidnapped by Hades and taken off to live in the underworld as his wife. Her mother, Demeter (goddess of the Harvest), went into mourning for her lost daughter and thus all green things ceased to grow. Zeus, the highest ranking of the Greek gods, could not allow the Earth to die, so he commanded Hades to return Persephone. It was the rule of the Fates that anyone who consumed food or drink in the Underworld was doomed to spend eternity there. Persephone had no food, but Hades tricked her into eating six pomegranate seeds while she was still his prisoner and so, because of this, she was condemned to spend six months in the Underworld every year. During these six months, when Persephone is sitting on the throne of the Underworld next to her husband Hades, her mother Demeter mourns and no longer gives fertility to the earth. This became an ancient Greek explanation for the seasons. Link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PomegranateSo the ideas of light (the world above ground, for the living) and dark (the underworld, where the dead reside) is inherent in the pomegranate. Also the idea of balance-- finding a way to live in both worlds. Other mythologies use the pomegranate, and some say that the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden was not an apple, but a pomegranate. This is my long-winded way of saying that the pomegranate was chosen very consciously for the video. THIS!!!!!!! I refuse to believe anything else than this!!!! Anyone who is saying something else , I won't listen!! Unless Adam address this in a different way I BELIEVE THIS! And I will ask him on twitter parties a million times about this part until I get an answer from him

Sunny Saturday morning with -23 degrees Celsius outside. For me that is a very good reason to stay in and finallly catch up with the abundance of lovely posts. I am looking eagerly forward to finding audio clips of UK interviews - and maybe some footage too. Only about 30 pages left of feb 3, then a little bit of feb 2, a few times BTIKM video - and I will be up to date! YAY!
