The Ray Kay-directed clip for “Better Than I Know Myself,” the lead single off of Lambert’s upcoming sophomore record Trespassing, takes us on a split-screen tour of Lambert’s psyche, revealing a fiery duel of emotions: A little bit of darkness, a little bit of light. Some angel, some devil. The good and the bad. One can’t exist without the other–it’s the yin and the yang, ya dig? Gorgeously shot, brilliantly acted (the liquor-guzzling shots of Lambert are particularly venomous), “Better Than I Know Myself” is undoubtedly his finest work to date. Kudos to you, Adam! OMG, I love the complexity of this vid sooooo.... much. Just awesome. Adam just instinctively knows how to ~bring it *sighs happily* Loved, no adored, this from a couple of pages back...  OK, have put rubbish out AND eaten and it's time for my nigh nighs. Especially since I got up extra early this morning to try and achieve my deadline in time to #bert over the MV. So, so, very happy for Adam right now. He really is a Midas God 8-)  Shit, the new thread is already at 20 pages when I'm about to go to bed - usually it's at 1 or 2. Heaven help me tomorrow. Night all - sweet  dreams. |

I love this video - the twist here is that if you thought the song was about loving someone else more than air, the person that you should love the most is yourself - in all the flawed and horrible ways that self-perception rears it's ugly head sometimes.

While the lyrics point to relying on a partner to balance one’s self out, the video shows that people aren’t these simple, one dimensional creatures and it takes multiple sides to make person whole. We see this illustrated throughout the video as Adam shows off his dueling sides: his light, sensitive side, which resides in a sunny, orange-toned room, and his hard-drinking, moody dark side, which wreaks havoc in a cold, blue-tinted room. The beautiful cinematography and strong acting performance from Adam really drive the point home (especially during the most pivotal scene near the end of the video). “Better Than I Know Myself” is the first single from Adam’s new album, Trespassing, out on March 20.
