popcrush PopCrush In his new video for 'Better Than I Know Myself,' @adamlambert does his best Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. Watch here: bit.ly/wQbZ4p 7 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply popcrush.com/adam-lambert-better-than-i-know-myself-video/ADAM LAMBERT PLAYS HIMSELF TWICE IN ‘BETTER THAN I KNOW MYSELF’ VIDEO Adam Lambert is the only person in the video for his sweeping new single ‘Better Than I Know Myself’ but he fights an internal battle, so we’re treated to two Adam Lamberts. And that’s it. There are no other characters in the clip. He just plays himself twice. It’s Adam Lambert, actor. Adam No. 1 is the familiar Glambert, with his signature black guyliner, spiky hair and all-black ensemble, including a strangely futuristic leather jacket with some serious shoulder pads. He’s the destructive one, playing with fire (literally), boozing it up, drowning his sorrows and sulking. His scenes are shot in dark tones. Adam No. 2 is clean cut, sans any makeup. He wears a brown robe, draws or writer in a journal, sips from a coffee mug, does yoga, dances and sings while wearing headphones, is fond of smiling and seems generally more stable and happy than his counterpart. His scenes are brighter, and with a golden hue to them. Both Adams are holed up in their urban chic apartments (with oxygen tanks as props or décor). When the screen splits, showing each man’s life, there’s clearly some sort of internal battle going on. One is Adam’s past, the other is Adam’s present and/or future. It certainly got us pondering. more

OMG that video is so fantastic-- I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the deeper interpretations, love just watching how gorgeous all three Adams are. Dark Adam is so bad, but I can't tear my eyes away-- tormented and angry and destructive, he mocks Light Adam but he keeps watching him, putting on a show for him. Everything on that side is cold and sharp and dark. No wonder he's miserable, lol. And Light Adam is nice and sweet but almost ridiculously so. Drinking tea and sweeping with his silly broom and meditating-- it's just too perfect. No wonder Dark Adam mocks him and refuses to come over. But neither of them are satisfied and both of them are trapped in these small rooms with a shared oxygen supply. I love the symbolism of the pomegranate. The story of Persephone is partly about finding balance, but in this video, Dark Adam seems to destroy that possibility. He doesn't seem to care that the fire he creates will destroy him. It's only when he realizes it's killing Light Adam that he has a moment of compassion. And in a final act of destruction, he breaks the glass wall that separates them. I think it's meaningful that it's Dark Adam that brings them together. You can't "master" or overcome the dark side by sheer will-- the dark side must be acknowledged and accepted. And finally Balanced Adam is out walking free! And walking past a No Trespassing zone-- ready to go wherever he wants to go-- bringing his whole self to the journey. I'm totally in love with this vid. My favorite of all of them, and it really makes me love the song more. I'm so happy!!!! A brilliant synopsis for a brilliant video! I love this video so much. Back to digesting...

I'm kind of dense when it comes to analyzing the deep meaning of things. So help me out. I still don't get why the oxygen tanks are there. I don't see what they add to the story. Help, anyone? (my opinion only - they weren't necessary to the mv) Light and darkness breathe the same air, share the same time and space. They coexist. I love the fact that even darkness knows that it needs light .. to have hope. That's my take on the MV. Nice one, Adam...

WOW! What a video! I don't seem to find a way to search it on YT. Every combination of artist and the name of the single fail to get the actual music video on the results list. Of course, clicking the single on vevo helps and then I can find it on vevo's download list... Is this a trick to do "premiere"? Find it directly only with links provided to the press... Try searching Adam Lambert Vevo on YT. Then you'll see his Vevo channel and the video. I'm not seeing it on Vevo.com except through the links people have given.
