OK, have had more time to think about this brilliant video, this time from a Jungian perspective.
In Jungian psychology this dark Adam would be called the shadow or "shadow aspect". The shadow is almost the same as Freud's concept of the unconscious mind. The shadow personifies everything that the subject refuses to acknowledge about himself.
Like in the video, the less aware a person (light Adam) is of his own shadow side, the stronger and darker the shadow side becomes. Ignore the shadow at your own risk and the risk of those around you.
However, Jung also believed that the shadow is the seat of creativity and for some, this shadow side represents a persons true life spirit. Again, ignore at your own risk.
"Some Jungians maintain that 'The shadow contains, besides the personal shadow, the shadow of society ... fed by the neglected and repressed collective values'" - wikipedia
In Jungian psychology, the process of individuation and true personal growth involves the dissolution of ones "persona" and the facing of ones own shadow side. If and when 'an individual makes an attempt to see his shadow, he becomes aware of (and often ashamed of) those qualities and impulses he denies in himself but can plainly see in others — such things as egotism, selfishness. This period of growth into a fuller personal authenticity is quite painful.
When one starts to face one's shadow side one also is in danger of falling victim to the shadow, the blackness and the sense of inferiority.
Great courage and strength are required to face ones shadow self and go through the process of individuation.
What is interesting about this video is that the shadow/dark Adam pulls the oxygen from and almost destroys the conscious self and it is the shadow that reaches out to save the conscious self/light Adam. According to Jung for individuation to work, the conscious self has to be the one to reach out to the shadow/unconscious, not the other way around. Otherwise the conscious actually becomes the slave of the shadow.
So according to Jung, this video would imply that conscious Adam has become the slave of his shadow.
To truly assimilate the shadow we must become aware of and understand the shadow but not identify with it. We must not think that the shadow is who we are. If we think the shadow is who we are we can fall into depression and darkness.
Reincorporating the shadow into our personality gives us strength and a wider consciousness. Integration of the shadow is the first step in individuation. Full individuation means a recognition of the anima for men and the animus for women.
Recognition of the shadow is a continuous process throughout ones life. Shadows are not easy to accept.

OMG that video is so fantastic-- I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the deeper interpretations, love just watching how gorgeous all three Adams are. Dark Adam is so bad, but I can't tear my eyes away-- tormented and angry and destructive, he mocks Light Adam but he keeps watching him, putting on a show for him. Everything on that side is cold and sharp and dark. No wonder he's miserable, lol. And Light Adam is nice and sweet but almost ridiculously so. Drinking tea and sweeping with his silly broom and meditating-- it's just too perfect. No wonder Dark Adam mocks him and refuses to come over. But neither of them are satisfied and both of them are trapped in these small rooms with a shared oxygen supply. I love the symbolism of the pomegranate. The story of Persephone is partly about finding balance, but in this video, Dark Adam seems to destroy that possibility. He doesn't seem to care that the fire he creates will destroy him. It's only when he realizes it's killing Light Adam that he has a moment of compassion. And in a final act of destruction, he breaks the glass wall that separates them. I think it's meaningful that it's Dark Adam that brings them together. You can't "master" or overcome the dark side by sheer will-- the dark side must be acknowledged and accepted. And finally Balanced Adam is out walking free! And walking past a No Trespassing zone-- ready to go wherever he wants to go-- bringing his whole self to the journey. I'm totally in love with this vid. My favorite of all of them, and it really makes me love the song more. I'm so happy!!!! Thank you, noangel, for a really great interpretation of the video. I am going to use your thoughts (with credit to you) as one way of interpreting the video - I have a huge extended base of family and friends who are on board with me, and on occasion I send them an "Adam newsletter with "all things Adam". I have had numerous texts from my kids and extended family this morning asking my thoughts on Adam's newest treasure. I told them I loved it since first watch at 1:00 a.m. to which they basically replied - well we watched it about 500 less times, but love it anyway! :-) love to all!

Adam, Don King wants his hair back. lol.. Aloha.. that's what I always thought when he did his hair like that... like Don King's hair.. I love that in the midst of all the flailing about the video, we can still make fun of our Golden Boy. Don King, indeed. Maybe the hair stylist punked him.
