Should be an interesting documentary with Adam. He keeps giving back and trying to make things better for his community. He is such a great representative and role model. But I must say, I have been very disappointed lately when I have seen many lists with LGBT artists who have made a difference. To my surprise, Adam has not been on them. Yes they have Freddie and Elton from the early years who will be include no matter what. But when I see Lance Bass, Miley, Rickey Martin, LNX (who now says he is Bi), Sam, Janelle Monae, Melissa Etherige, Billie Porter, Gaga, Demi, Frank Ocean, most were already successful or at the top the charts before they came out. I wonder why no Adam? He took a lot of attacks and had many barriers in front of him because he acknowledged his sexuality at the the very beginning. He answered every stupid question in so many interviews where some acted as if gay was something they had never heard of and it was the only interesting thing about him. The storm around him almost killed and at the very least slowed down his career. And he was the first Out artist to have a #1 album on the BB200. That should count for something. And he is certainly well known and successful like the others as a solo artist, tv personality and the Queen frontman. But besides that, he often speaks out and leads forums and fundraisers and has a foundation to help his community. Many of the others only advance their careers or try to do something shocking, or constantly changing their pronouns or dressing like women to prove how gay they are and for attention (BP said he did that in an interview). Good for headlines and representation I guess. But there is room for everyone and all types of LGBT artists. But I would think that someone who has given so much like Adam, could be more recognized for his contributions and visibility and success. He spoke up when many others were silent, encouraged LGBT youth and has been a wonderful spokesperson as a man and representation for his community. Rant over. HA!
