Don't know how much the texting help from AT&T was the cause of Adam's loss. Or was it some pastors organizing and saying vote for the straight/Christian guy and not the gay non-Christian. Or Danny getting voted off and his fans went for Kris, a fellow Christian and former worship leader. Or Adam being from California when most of the winners around that time were from The South and/or red states. Maybe a combination of all or maybe Adam was not going to get enough votes anyway. But it must be so much more gratifying to lose and end up with the bigger, higher profile and more lucrative career than to win and fall off the radar. In any event, AT&T was an Idol sponsor so they had no business being involved with helping one camp. That was going to give the show a black eye and make the win look tainted even if it wasn't. My bet is Idol was not pleased the sponsor put themselves in the middle because it was clear that Idol wanted Adam to win. It would have changed the look of Idol instead of having one unimpressive WGWG after another win year after year. But win or not Adam was a favorite of the show, often used in their promotions, and they are proud of him. He was the first to be invited back to mentor (many times) and to guest judge. Even ABC Idol has had Adam and Carrie back to mentor and perform more than any other Idols. And the Idol judges (Katy, Lionel, Luke) were absolutely giddy as they bragged about Adam and Jennifer performing at the Oscars (two non-winners, lol). I would say things worked out just fine for Adam.
