So far, Adam's voice sounds the best I've heard it this tour. Stronger, without the occasional over-strain I heard sometimes, and going for more of the 5th octave glory notes. And TSMGO is back. Perhaps it took some time to be back to his top form after time off?
But I am so pissed at the backhanded compliments: Adam really doing Freddie justice. WTF? I do not recall Freddie being deified when he was alive. Don't remember over the top glowing praise of his vocals. Now, 32 years after his death, adam is worthy of coming close to measuring up to Freddie's impeccable talent??? On the vids I have seen of Freddie live in concert, his voice is not anywhere close to perfection. At times he really struggled, or altered melodic lines to make them easier to sing. Adam's voice, range, control, endurance, flexibility and versatility is in a different league from Freddie.
Examining all the ways trained singers evaluate voices, folks should be talking about Freddie being almost able to measure up to Adam, not vice versa.
Adam is a great frontman too, but they're different personas, in some ways similar, in other ways very different. That's why I don't like these comparisons. But since some here seem to feel the need to downgrade Freddie today, here are some impressions from me:
Adam is technically the better singer, but listening to music is very subjective. I noticed it lately, while listening to QAL's new version of "Is This The World We Created". Adam's version is really beautiful. BUT - personally I prefer Freddie's version. And I guess the only reason is, that I'm used to Freddie's lower voice singing it much mor powerful, while Adam sings the song in a very soft way.

Which version is better? None. They are both great. Of course some will argue, Adam sings it technically cleaner or whatever. But to the listener at a concert it's in the eye (or ear) of the beholder. Do you like this or that voice better? Imagine it the other way round: In some far future another singer would step in for Adam and sing his sings. Would you like it? (Be honest!)
As for "Adam is doing Freddie justice": I simply take it as the compliment, which it is meant to be.
Personally I know, that Adam is the better singer.
But I also know, that Freddie is a god to some Queen fans (by far not all!). And I know, that Adam has learnt and can still learn a lot from Freddie's way to perform and play with an audience. So it IS a great compliment.
As for the praise for Freddie: To me his biggest talent beside his stage presence had been his songwriting abilities. If you ever want to dive deeper into the Queen catalogue: Check out The Black Side of Queen's album Queen II. All songs were written by Freddie, they continue into each other. It also includes Bohemian Rhapsody's "big sister": The March Of The Black Queen. Without that song there would be no BoRhap... but from "Ogre Battle" to "Seven Seas Of Rhye" it's nothing but a master piece.
Long story short: Adam and Freddie are two different people with different personas and abilities. But they're both fantastic and enjoyable to watch. I would have loooved to see these two together one day. Maybe in another life...
