If I understood this right, Adam was suggesting that besides individual donations, that people would give up their b'days and set up own projects and ask for donations instead of gifts and link them to his project somehow (a bit fuzzy on that last part - how that works).
But anyhow, could we not set up one such shared project asking for water instead of valentines and then use twitter to ask others couples who are searching what to give each other, whether they might want to join with a donation. use something like #waterforavalentine #giftideasforvalentine to route people to that project?
I mean, it does not have to be a birthday project, does it?
Or am I totally confused how this works?
Otherwise, same situation as others have described here. Made my donation, not sure how come it is this year so much less than last year - at least I don't understand the extent of difference in response. Puzzled by that too.

I guess I don't get why folks go repeatedly to MJs to see coverage about Adam. It is well known that there are going to be Adam bashers, trolls who do anything they can to find fault and even sin in who he is and what he does. I intentionally avoid sites and comments that trash Adam. The comments depress and infuriate me, raise my blood pressure, and ruin my mood. If there were a good reason to read such things --- if I could then stop them from being posted, stop Adam from seeing them, change the minds of these spewers of hatred, then, there might be a purpose in subjecting myself to the negativity. But, I can do none of those things. I much prefer to share my love for Adam with like minded souls here at ATop. I think for some people it's like watching a car crash - fascinating and revolting at the same time :

Because some of us like American Idol, The Voice or X factor. Because some of us like other Idol contestants from past years or other music other than just from Adam. Because there are thousands of casual fans who read over there every day and it would be nice if they saw some positive comments on Adam. Because new fans sometimes happen upon MJs as the first site they come to looking for information about Adam. It is nice to stay inside the warm little bubble of a fanboard, but there are thousands of people who read MJs everyday. IMO, it's a good thing that some fans are out there stating actual facts and keeping the Adam threads positive.

I think the situation with charity water donations is pretty straightforward. Last year there was NOTHING going on with Adam. Almost no news and certainly no expectation that we would be buying albums, show tickets, other merchandise, etc. anytime soon. We weren't being distracted by interviews, spins, whack-a-mole, etc. There was a little bit of stuff around the Grammy's and that just got us more excited to support him ~somehow and charity water was pretty much the only game in town.
My only comment on the pink place - I have managed to completely avoid giving her a single click since the rediculous nazijacketgate. AFTER she ~cleaned up that thread, she allowed clear cut hate speach to stand. I certainly have no control over what other people say or post, but I will not support (with my clicks that bring her money) someone who condones hate to that extent. I'm one of those that would rather not see any mention of that place - it makes me a little sick to think that she makes a living from encouraging hate since it brings more ~discussion and more clicks.

On my post this morning regarding charity water, what my husband and I agreed is that the money we would have spent for gifts, flowers, dinner, etc., we would give instead. Same thing for his birthday. No present, a simple card with the receipt from CW.
Every little bit helps. It all starts with a little drop, then a trickle, pretty soon there will be running water that can save so many lives.
