I guess Adam felt that his initiall reaction needed some fine tuning, and I'm glad he did.
I'm not happy to bring politics here and I hope what I write is not controversial, when I refer to Adam's IG post. I agree with a lot of it, but still I have a need to react to a few points.
I'm very liberal myself, but the international left had a knee-jerk reaction which was completetly misguided this time.
I will admit that Israel has been mishandling the situation for decades and treated the Palestinians unfairly, to put it mildly. Yet what happened 4 weeks ago was not "a bunch" of people that got killed in a music festival, but 1,400 people that were murdered, some in the festival and others in their homes, including whole families, and including in the most brutal acts imaginable, which I will not detail here. But Adam is right to point that the attack wasn't executed by the Gazans but specifically by the Hamas terror organisation which controls Gaza.
The Israeli army is the people, so it cannot be called "right-wing", it includes all kinds. It gets its instructions from the government.
Unfortunately, as US people know well, even in democracies you don't always get the leadership that most people voted for, for various reasons. And while Israel and its army are not pure by any means, they don't deliberately kill innocent people.
And lastly, it seems like Adam differentiate between "anti Israel" and "anti Zionist", but I don't understand this distinction. Being Zionist means you think the Jews should have their own state, and it should be in Zion (which is another name for Israel). So I don't get how you can be pro Israel but anti Zionism.
Sorry to be so long winded. We hear of such a rise in Antisemitism around the world, so we all feel like we're on PR duty...

I agree with every point you just made. People were dragged from their beds, tortured, raped, and murdered, including babies & children...in front of each other. A Zionist is a person who believes in the development and protection of a Jewish nation in what is now Israel. That's the basic meaning. Meanings get warped and changed, like calling someone "woke" or a "Snowflake." Both words are used in a derogatory way, which is nuts. Between what is happening in the Middle East and the crap that has been happening in the U.S. since TR*MP appeared, we are basically in hell!
