Favorite part of the QAL review: Love when Adam is given his credit. Most of the reviews have been pretty good.
"For the last decade, glam rocker Adam Lambert has been filling his shoes."
"With Lambert, they’re accomplishing the goal with flying colors. No disrespect to Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers, who had the mic for the half-decade before Lambert, but Queen’s songs didn’t come across quite right with him singing them. Lambert’s voice is distinct from Mercury’s, but his pipes are nonetheless incredibly powerful, multi-octave and operatic."

Just returned from SF What a wonderful show!! Adam looked so happy and his vocals are amazing! It was a nonstop wonderful few hours, between me watching the two stages, the impressive sets, lighting, trying to watch on the big screen for amazing closeups, trying to grab pics. Will go back tonight and try to watch more of the big screens as the close up footage is wonderful! Are there videos of the footage from the cameras mounted on makeup mirror and motorcycle? Adam did such an FANTASTIC job on these vocals. He is such a skilled performer and the vocal performance was a joy to watch. It’s such a unique role, to step into his role into such an iconic band, singing so powerfully nonstop for 2 hr 10 min (no intermission) and he has the wonderful combo of top notch powerhouse vocal performance and yet was so fun and free with his dancing which was also a talent. As someone who has been seeing Broadway national tours lately I was watching with an eye towards performance and production and this touring show is a joy to see. I wasn’t going to go bc of the ticket price, I see a ton of live music and my ticket was 5 times what I would normally pay. But I felt like the experience was soooo worth it, even with the hassle of driving into the city, it is just a joy to watch Adam perform, the vids don’t do it full justice, it is just fun and amazing to HEAR his voice FILL such a large venue, to SEE someone step into the shoes of Freddie Mercury and not only be able to do it but to be able to SHINE in his own performance. I think there is a happiness and joy to his performance that was quickly obvious live that I wasn’t able to see over vids.

Thank you for the recap, Fionamama...so glad you enjoyed the show. And I think you're absolutely right, sometimes the videos (as amazing as they are) can't really convey the reality of the experience of being there. We see little snapshots of the entirety of the show. So thankful for all the videos and pictures though, as I'm one that doesn't go to concerts and live vicariously through those little snapshots. I get anxiety in large crowds and get really overwhelmed by the noise, so live concerts are not an enjoyable experience for me. I have gone to a couple of them, but much prefer the videos in the quiet of my living room.

OT: Man, Carrie Underwood fans are having a meltdown because she did not win Entertainer of the Year at the Country Music Awards. She has won many awards in country and Grammy's thru her career so it is not as if she has been overlooked. But I guess the CMA's is the biggest and most prestigious country award and the EOTY the highest honor. Only three women have won EOTY and Talyor Swift won 2 of them when she was in country. Carrie has been nominated about 6 times for EOTY but never won it. After many years of females like Carrie and Miranda being nominated but not winning, it went to a female this time (Lainey Wilson) tho she is rather new to the industry. I don't know Lainey but she won about 5 or 6 last night and had the most nominations so she must to popular in the country world. Carrie was only up for the one award.
Carrie's fans are saying she should switch to rock now that she is not winning country awards. I would not be surprised if she makes that move as she has been trying to present herself as a rocker of late. She even opened for Guns N Roses for 4 or 5 shows on their tour this summer. While she is an arena touring artist in her own right, if you are going to open for someone, I guess it did not hurt to open for an even bigger rock band like GNR. I doubt she would have opened for anyone who was a fading act or one who was not a bigger arena and stadium act than she.
While rock is more favorable to males, some female artists have done pretty well. Miley gave it a go and got a #1 rock album. Demi a #1 rock and #1 alt album. Even Billie Elish (who is still doing very well in pop) had a #1 in alt and #6 is rock. Now Dolly is putting out a rock album too. So those ladies are bold and not afraid to switch genres and compete in the "boys" dominated lane, lol. Tho they have not won any Grammy's in rock, Carrie (or Dolly) might pull if off if she decides to give it a go. When Carrie put out a Gospel album, not only did it go to #1 is Gospel but she even won a Gospel Grammy over more established artists in that genre. So if Country is no longer giving her #1 singles on the radio and others are passing her with awards wins, it might work for her and her team to change things up, stay in mix and not staying in a self imposed box. She and others have done it before and it worked so why not give rock shot? At 41 years old I can't see her switching to pop like Taylor did. Rock is less competitive and she has been working on her "rock cred" so she has nothing to lose.

I was at the SF #1 show and I am still in such a high!!! Can't type up cohesive thoughts yet, but I definitely felt this "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" again and "shivers went down my spine" more than once. Loved the visuals, the bombastic opening, the Kinda Magic , and Adam in all his deliciousness and glory. He is humble yet more confident than ever, and I can't quite remember when he looked this good What a night that I shared with a special friend today We both agreed that the audience was very diverse and that our section was really into it. Lots of folks on their feet throughout most of the show. I can not wait to be back for another SF show tonight!! My daughter will join me for that one So glad to "See" you and Happy for you that you Had a great Concert experience 😇☺️😊
