Thanks for the explanation Finns. I'm curious. You are using the word tolerance. Is it tolerance or acceptance?

This reminds me that I had a question about the twitter exchange between Eber and Monte. Did I remember correctly that there was a congratulations on an album award? Anyone know what that was about? This would have been Adam related in a not too far removed past life.

Hey, I am curious about something for our non-American friends. Do you find that tolerance is pretty widespread in your countries for gays and lesbians or is it better in big cities? I am just curious. Gays and lesbians here often face hardship while in school, and when growing up or trying to live in more rural or small town areas. Big cities are more free and tolerant of the gay lifestyle. How does it compare? PM me if you want. This is just something I have always wondered about. I think it does to a high degree depend upon where you live - I personally know people who have moved to my town (a coastal resort with a very visible gay community) because they felt isolated in smaller towns - also here there are many gay & gay/friendly venues for socialising. Obviously most of the major cities have distinct gay areas. Bullying does take place in schools but is being addressed much more strongly than in the past. We are a fairly irreligious country - for many people, including me, the only times you attend church are for weddings & funerals. It does appear that a lot of the anti-gay bias in the US for example is fuelled by the powerful conservative Christian element which doesn't really have an equivalent in this country. Rather than my going on at length, you may find this Wiki entry interesting: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_the_United_KingdomOf course, there are bigoted morons everywhere............
