Now that Adam will be a judge on The Voice of Australia, I wonder if Sheldon Riley will find a way to get on that show again. He was on Adam's team on XF Australia but went out early. He seems to be a professional contestant. Besides XF Australia he has competed on The Voice Australia, Eurovision, The Masked Singer and recently was voted off AGT for the second time. At some point you need to stop going on these shows and work on your career. Besides winning is no guarantee of success. There have been many winners on these shows but only a few winners became stars. And you don't need to win to become a successful star. Jhud and Adam (Idol), Harry Styles (XF UK), Miranda Lambert (Nashville Star).
Sheldon always seems to have a gimmick. When Adam competed on Idol, he got a ton of attention because of his talent, charisma, good looks and he was exciting. It paid off for him with interest and opportunities and it is long lasting. And nowadays, gimmicks can get old quickly. LNX found a lot of attention and success by being shocking (to some) in the beginning. But it may not be working as well now. He has put out new music and he said it would shock the industry. In his video (and with the song) he presents himself as Jesus and then later in the video is dancing while dressed as a cheerleader. Didn't have the same reaction or outrage as him dancing with the devil or when Madonna offended many with her religious type videos, lol. No one seems shocked or outraged by him anymore. Will be interesting to see if his success continues now that this song does not seem to be charting high.

Well, I'm not sure Sheldon's voice is special enough to carry him beyond the gimmicks. But I don't find Harry's voice anything special either and he made it big, so who knows what it takes these days.

Who knows what would have happened with Harry's solo career if he had not started out with One Direction. But he did start with them. The kids loved them and they received an incredible amount of success, playing arenas and stadiums worldwide as teens. Harry seemed to get the most attention in the group so it was no wonder that it carried over to his solo career. And with major label support, he was still young enough to keep his young audience. And he got more radio play in the US as a solo artist than even ID so that was a big help as well. And the awards and Grammy's followed. Jay-Z is still mad that he won best album over Beyonce at the Grammy's last year. Tho if he had failed to win, it still may not have gone to Beyonce. Nor did his win take away from her winning the most Grammy's ever.
