I think there are only two reasons Kris is relevant here: Most importantly, for comparison purposes Adam and Kris are both releasing debut singles off of sophomore albums at the same time by the same label, and they are both dealing with the AI stigma. I think it is interesting to see what is being done to market each and the results. For the last few weeks, the only sour e of any angst I may have had is thatthe BRINK has had next to no radio promo. Now that radio promo seems to be picking up, much of my anxiety has been relieved. However, I can't help but compare to the fact that Kris already has a deal in place with Donors Choice and Clear Channel where his single is being used asa background to his Donors. C boar commercial being played on all these Clear Channel stations. I will not be surprised if these stations, almost none of whom have added Better Than I Know Myself, quickly add Kris's song. So I have to ask, what's going on RCA? Or is there just a glass ceiling for Adam at US radio? If Kris wants to jump on the Donor's Choose train almost 3 years after Adam rode it to over half-million dollars in donations let him. Learn from the master Mr. Allen  As for comparing them, it's not worth it and it makes no sense. They aren't remotely similar. Nothing about their last albums were similar. Adam debuted at #3 and Kris didn't even get into the top 10. Adam had two singles off his album that did fairly well and kris had one single that didn't chart as high as Adam's on the HOT 100 or sell as much and his other two singles tanked. Adam's album stayed on the BB200 for almost an entire year and Kris' fell off within a matter of months. Adam toured the world as a solo artist selling out venue after venue and Kris tour the United States as an opening act. There is no Idol stigma to speak of IMO, not when the #1 song on the Hot 100 is by the first American Idol. There is a white male pop artist stigma though. Radio is dominated by the girls so that's the hurdle that both Adam and Kris have to get over and from what I can tell Adam has a much better shot at it. They aren't releasing their songs at the same time. Adam's is out and rising up the charts and Kris doesn't even have a confirmed single or release date. The best way to avoid the comparisons is to stop comparing them and stop worrying about what Kris is doing. Nothing Kris does will impact Adam. Adam is executive Producer on his album and Creative Director. Adam is in control of this whole thing and he knows what he's doing. |

BTW, in case anyone might be wondering why the NAL thread at emjays is getting so many positive comments, it is because a large group of Adam fans are boycotting the site. (I am free!! Free!!) ;D Yeah, I've been absent from there kind of this week. Not really boycotting, just not feeling it right now. Plus I don't venture on any threads other than Adam's, Headlines, and the number threads. Kris have become boring and bland to me, so no reason to go to his thread, and subjugate myself to listen to his music just to post how bad it is... |
