4.15.24 Adam News and Info

I watched Idol last night and they had a guest artist Teddy Swims perform. I didn't know him before but he sang his global hit Lose Control. It went #1 BB100 in the US and #1 in multiple other countries. He has a reddish beard and tattoos on his face, lol, but he is a very good and soulful singer. Loved the powerful ballad. But most impressive to me is that his moving ballad was such a big hit and he isn't a rapper, or a young diva twerking or performing with 10 dancers or a club/dance song. He is with Warner Records. Warner had Adam, who is one of the best singers out today, but they let him slip away without putting out any of his powerful ballads that would have showcased his great vocal ability. Ghost Town was a minor hit in the US (bigger abroad) and Another Lonely Night didn't do much but neither song really had him stand out or show what an outstanding vocalist he is. Adam's timing at Warner was off. Rob Cavallo left the Chairmanship at Warner a few years before they signed Adam. I think if he had been there when Adam was signed, he would have done more with him. He produced several songs for Adam before he became Chairman at Warner (Music Again, Soaked and Time for Miracles). When he worked with Adam on TFM, he said Adam was the most gifted singer he had ever recorded (he recorded, signed and produced a lot of rock acts) and that Adam could hit every note and was a wonderful guy. If he had still been the head of Warner when Adam arrived, I think he would have known what to do with him. Many can do the pop and pop/dance music and sound okay or similar but everyone can't do what Adam does. He can rock and he can sing a ballad with power and emotion. And yep, I know Adam is very successful and has a wonderful career. But it sure would have been nice if this talented and exceptional singer was known more by the masses for his great vocal abilities with his solo work and not just with his great covers or front man duties with Queen.

lurleene, thanks for telling us about Teddy Swims. I don't watch Idol, but I know it shows viewers who some of the current successful singers are. I'm going to listen to his song.

I know we go on and on here about Adam's lack of radio play and jumping genres, etc. etc. But the bottom line is, the listeners out there either like a song or they don't. I know that label support is involved, and obviously Teddy got that support. A successful singer doesn't have to be gorgeous or even have a good voice. Plenty of top singers have neither. In a more logical world, Adam's solo albums would be strong enough to support a decent sized solo tour every year or so. Somehow, despite his voice and looks and personality and good songs, the labels he has had just let him slip by over and over again. The head-scratcher of the 21st century.

Oh glad you enjoyed it. I was very moved by Teddy's song. With all the same ole same ole out there, it is was really refreshing to hear someone who can sing with emotion (and see people raving about his vocal performance) and have a major label push. I'm a sucker for music that makes me feel something and there is so little of that from the chart topping pop and dance/pop divas or rap artists who are pushed to the top today. Rather nice to see someone have major success who can sing and throws down the gauntlet with something different from most and not trying to follow everyone else. HA. There are not many out there who can do that and Adam is one of them, imo. Unfortunately mostly only his fans have heard his great meaningful songs because they were never released or pushed by a major label.
