I am happy for Adam that he got to do the music he loves and wanted to do since he left Idol. When RCA signed him, they saw a unique and talented vocalist, showman and rocker. They were excited to back him. There had never been anyone like him on Idol. And at that time, I doubt RCA would have been interested in signing and supporting a gay male dance-pop/EDM artist. When he started working on his first album, he said he was working with RedOne (Gaga's producer) but nothing came of it. Someone must have pulled the plug on that and they got a compromise Pop/pop-rock/glam-rock album from him, which was likely what the label wanted. So they supported the project and him and it was a huge success. Then came the second album and a leadership change at RCA. The new guys said they saw Adam as pop-rock/rock but that Adam saw himself as dance-pop. He also said he wanted to do music for his community and he was allowed to executive produce Trespassing. But it was probably too early in his career not to give a major label the rocker or rock leaning artist they wanted. And when they failed to push the album (glad he made history with that first #1) or the singles, the album went no place. Also, radio will fail to support you if the label does not. Then they came up with the bright idea for a rock covers album. Bad move. He walked. I think when they signed an artist from Idol, they knew what they wanted. The same thing sorta happened with Kelly Clarkson early in her career. After her first worldwide and successful pop album, she suddenly wanted to change direction and become a rocker. They signed her to become a pop star and she needed to pay her dues before trying to change direction. She was angry with Clive Davis but she continued to have a successful pop career. It was somewhat like Adam but in reverse and with different results.
But he is doing what he wants now. When you are indie, you do the music you want. Adam has had a lot of success and made a ton of money fronting Queen and with various solo tours and projects. Now he doesn't need to worry about a major label or their investment. There are no label heads to answer to. You just put the sexy dance/EDM/club music out there and have fun. If fans like it, they will buy it. If they don't, they will likely come around with the next project. But he is getting some good press and really enjoying himself. I wonder if Adam has gotten it out of his system now with this EP and will give a major label another chance? Nah. HA.

So is he no longer with Warner UK, or was that just a temporary thing? I can't keep up with this guy lol.

At first, the expectation was that Adam would soar to the top and keep charting. But that's not reality. It's been a bumpy ride full of things we never expected in our wildest dreams. It all makes Adam one of the most interesting artists to follow. He sure has branched into other areas, too, showing that his talents go far beyond singing. I love following him, wherever it leads.

When I see Adam adorned with rhinestones and in full make-up as of his latest Instagram post - not sure the occasion, but I guess it was for a private event and he felt the need to share the look - I come to realize that he probably suppressed himself for a long time. The make up came back for Velvet and stayed on for High Drama, along with his love for platform boots (though I am aware that he adjusts a bit for various appearances). I keep asking myself if he ever gets tired of all this at age 42 haha, but I don’t think he ever will as I think it’s in his DNA.
I got on board of this crazy train because of his voice but that for me is just a tiny and easily forgettable part of Adam’s “persona” at this point. I have always preferred the “less is more” aka “sanitized” Adam and that’s one of the reasons why the TOH era has been my favorite so far. Currently it’s definitely not about what I fell in love with and I have a hard time re-establishing for myself Adam’s musical identity. I respect his artistic needs and choices but I am confused and a bit disappointed at the same time, though in general I do enjoy electronic music. Lots of rambling.. sorry.

The Gay40Times article on Freddie wouldn't have liked being called queer - www.gaytimes.com/music/queens-brian-may-says-freddie-mercury-would-not-have-liked-queer-label/ was posted on 6/22 but follows right after the interview with Adam today. I'm bringing it up again because of one line... "they respect his privacy. But we found a way to speak about it in a respectful manner,” the ‘Runnin’ singer explained via The Mirror." I've never heard Adam described that way. It's a favorite song for many of us though so the article writer is a definite glambert

I love Runnin', too. Interesting that it was chosen to refer to Adam. In this current Adam phase, new wide-appeal music is a side-issue. Adam is busy being an advocate for the LGBT+ community. He doesn't seem to have financial pressures. He's famous as a singer, but currently he's more visible as an issue-oriented, media celebrity. And a damn good one.
Some A-list artists disappear for a couple years and then come back with immediate hit songs that top the charts. This is unlikely to happen with Adam, but I DO think that at some point he'll come out with some new edgy music (not like Afters) that will appeal to his fans. I'd like to see more rock than pop from him, but that's probably a far-fetched dream. He seems to always have something going on in the background that we don't know about. Hope so.

I definitely get your rambling! Feeling a bit the same way. I think another reason that I've followed Adam all these years is that he has opened my world to lots of things that I would never known about. It has been a very interesting ride and kind of keeps me youngish. Also I have met some really nice people in the Glambert community thanks to Adam.
