I was watching a video where they made the point that many of the male pop artists today (including rappers and r&B) don't have the staying power or success of the female pop stars/rappers, who dominate pop. And they complained that male pop stars were once dominate but not anymore, compared to the women. Even if some have a big hit or two and several #1s, many still fall off the radar. One reason given was that they did not register in pop culture. But then they gave examples of earlier stars like Chris Brown (even after beating Rihanna), Bieber, Usher and Timberlake who had many hits and lasted for a long period of time as pop stars. On the opposite end, they mentioned one guy, who was destined to be big, but dropped off after a #1 (I remembered him from an awards show and he could not sing, lol). They said Sean Mendes was too boring, and many were tired of LNX and his gimmicks (they showed him in crazy wigs or dancing in a mini skirt).
But I get what they were saying about some who failed to register in pop culture. And that made me think of Adam (they did not mention him as they only covered those who had #1 hits). His lack of chart success and #1 hits as a pop artist were mainly because of tepid or no radio play, only entry in the pop genre or lackluster label support. However, he did register in pop culture, thus the staying power in the media as a rockstar/pop star. And also because of his talent, he is still visible, in demand and on the radar for all types of events, Pride and otherwise. Magazine covers and interviews. TV, animation opportunities, LGBT events, in the US and abroad. QAL success. Performing before Royalty, with or without Queen. He is everywhere and part of so many high profile events. He may lack many pop hits but he certainly has worldwide success and status.
I can't say it enough but Adam was looking so classy, stylish, handsome and better than ever at Stonewall. He spoke eloquently and is a great representative for his community. And he was a sophisticated and edgy vision in white. HA.
