Adam is going to get so much publicity for this! YAY! "Sorry to be coy about the details the past few weeks, but I made a promise to keep it under wraps as best I could. Gonna be a surreal night!" Queen will headline the second day of Sonisphere. The festival takes places at Knebworth Park, the site of the band's final concert with lead singer Freddie Mercury in 1986. Adam sang We Are the Champions with Queen during the 2009 American Idol finale and also performed with the band last year at the MTV Europe Awards. more |

All those who were prematurely excited by the reports that Adam Lambert would be stepping in as Queen’s new frontman should feel some vindication now that an upcoming live collaboration has been confirmed. In the midst of what will likely be heaving promotion for his upcoming album Trespassing, Lambert will take the stage with the band at the U.K.’s Sonisphere Festival on July 7, at the famous Knebworth House in Stevenage, where Freddie Mercury gave his final performance with the band in 1986. Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor verified the news on Monday, with Sonisphere representatives announcing fellow headliners Kiss and Faith No More, and additional acts Cypress Hill, Evanescence and Marilyn Manson to the three-day schedule. I gotta say Adam has absolute BALLS OF STEEL, to take on fronting Queen at Knebworth site of one of their most iconic, and the last performance with Freddie. We know he can "sang", but man those are some big big shoes to fill - his courage is quite something. EMAs were just a warm up folks - it's going to be quite a ride! You know, I might have worried for him had it not been for the EMAs. (I am sooooo grateful I had no idea that was happening beforehand, I would have been a wreck.) But thanks to the EMA slayage, I would think that Adam would now feel very confident about this performance, as well as extremely thrilled and excited and honored. No one could do it better, that's for damned certain. ETA: I keep thinking about that overweight, confused blonde teen still in the closet, singing Queen songs to his car radio. Now look where he is!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
