I liked the article about Adam and George.
I think Adam was a great representation and opened doors for other gay male artists. He was out at the beginning of his career and talked honestly and was open about his sexuality. But he did not make it ALL about his sexuality. However, I think some in the media hurt him by wanting to talk so much about him being gay, gay, gay. But he was not a stereotype (many Rockers wore eye-makeup, lol) and was one of the biggest talents to arrive on the scene. That should have been the major focus and an entry into the Grammy club but it wasn't. But his enormous talent keep him in the game and he achieved much even with some roadblocks. Imo, he paved the way for gay men less talented than he (Frank, Sam and LNX) to walk thru that door and have their talent and accomplishments (on the charts) front and center and taken seriously. Many Grammy's and an Oscar followed. It seemed that the barriers for gay male artists were no longer there. Then after much mainstream success, Sam and LNX decided to make it less about their talent and more about stereotypes, shock and the spectacle. They became caricatures. But they made those choices for themselves and maybe misread how far they could push. It will be interesting to see if any other gay males are allowed to become music stars again in the near future. Or will they only have a place in the underground, gay clubs and on the sidelines cheering the success of the pop divas.

It will always be frustrating for Adam fans when we see Grammys get doled out each year to some artists nowhere near as talented as Adam. Irritates me every year, and I don't even watch the Grammys. But he is proving himself in other ways. Plenty of hugely successful artists and bands never received Grammys during their careers. I know it's sour grapes to feel that Adam should get the awards but he doesn't. Many other artists are truly deserving. But it's incredibly odd that, although his voice is widely recognized as one of the best in the business (THE best, IMO), his music has never gotten wide exposure. It may happen at some point, but in the meantime I'm thrilled that he got the Cabaret gig, which I hope will open more doors to more theater and other kinds of gigs. He's a talent too good to waste. The typical "Release an album and tour on it" over and over will likely not be his path, but it may turn out that his opportunities will be really valuable ones that make his career long and lucrative.
And he looks absolutely fabulous. Looks as young as his Idol era. And he is excited and eager to try new opportunities
