Thanks for the info. No, I‘ve never heard the song before. It’s an American song and according to Wikipedia it has no roots in either Germany or Austria. Only the movie brought it here, but it wasn’t a hit or anything.

So cool to see Eddie Redmayne at the show? I wonder what he thought of it or if he'll share his thoughts? Love how Adam is getting so much love from his fans, AND that people who have never seen him perform before are now seeing an incredible singer and actor. Great exposure for him!
As for Edelweiss, I've heard it a thousand times in The Sound of Music. I was also under the false impression that it was some sort of German/Austrian folk song. I stand corrected. It's a beautiful song so matter what.

I want to share with everyone my wonderful day yesterday seeing Adam in Cabaret. He was wonderful, truly owned the stage and his stage presence undeniable. I also saw one of the understudies play Sally Bowles, Gabi Campo, since Auli’i Cravalho was sick and she was great! I was mesmerized by Adam, he was so close to where we were sitting and the cherry on top was meeting him backstage after the show. He was so generous, giving some of his precious time between shows to talk to us. He talked about how happy he was to be back in the theater community. I think this is a huge door opener for him for other Broadway shows. He clearly sees that in his future. I am also thrilled ticket sales are going up. Word of mouth seems to be getting out. And just a FYI the company manager certainly thinks the show will be running for a good while.

And how lucky to be able to meet him backstage. I think I'd be speechless if I did that lol. I'm with you, I hope this opens more theater doors for Adam, should he wish that. I'm just in constant awe of how multi talented he is. I have a feeling he'll be busy for years to come...so many creative options.
