www.ontopmag.com/article.aspx?id=11063&MediaType=1&Category=22#Adam Lambert: I'm Not Competing With Freddie Mercury BY ON TOP MAGAZINE STAFF PUBLISHED: FEBRUARY 25, 2012 Singer Adam Lambert does not believe he's competing with the late Freddie Mercury by joining the British rock band Queen for one performance. The 30-year-old Lambert will join Queen at the Sonisphere Festival in Knebworth, England on July 7. The iconic rock band currently includes guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor. Taylor and May formed the band Smile, which frontman Mercury altered to Queen when he joined. Mercury died in 1991 of complications due to AIDS. Lambert performed several songs with Queen at last year's MTV European Music Awards (EMA) in Belfast. During an interview with NME, Lambert insisted he's not trying to replace Mercury more

Ooh, Pink would have been spectacular. Girl does not get enough accolades here in the US. I always felt as if the Adam/KISS connection came about because the producers had so little understanding of what Adam was plus a severe lack of imagination. They saw Adam referencing Makeup!! Rock n Roll!! Dress up!! and to them that equaled KISS. I do think that their inclusion seals the opinion that the Idols aren't consulted at all, because I am SURE singing with KISS was never on Adam's bucket list. The very fact that he made it though the set is a nod to his future as an actor. Queen, on the other hand, was inspired and no matter how it came about I will be forever grateful that it happened. Even if they and Adam never played another note together, that moment in that finale was THE BOMB. I still have the finale on my DVR and I fixed it so that it ends when they cut to commercials after that performance. The pinnacle moment in a pinnacle year for sure- and my most favorite Idol moment EVER. I don't know how Queen came about but their agreeing to do it after Brian May's very vocal disgust with the whole proceedings in S5 tells me that they were enticed by Adam. Remember that by that time Slash had mentored because of Adam and Led Zep had approved WLL for Adam to sing. I am quite sure IMO that Queen would not have been enticed back if not for Adam. They were not touring or promoting anything at that point and had in fact just ended their association with Paul Rogers and I think it is conceivable that in their minds they just might have been checking Adam out as a possible future vocalist. Not saying they ever offered him the job but they definitely expressed an interest in working with him again. But Brian had been very open about how badly he felt things went with Queen's previous involvement with AI so the fact that they were there in my opinion could only have been because there was something there worth being in on and Adam has to have been it. ITA with you. In 2009 the buzz about Adam was around the world, artist like Slash who would never wanted to go to AI had actually kind of asked his friend at the AI production if he can come to the set so he could see Adam performance live for himself and he agreed to be the mentor because of Adam. And Zeppeline, who declined and rejected Daughtry's request to sing WLL on the show couple of years back, had approved for Adam to sing it. So.. yes.. Brian & Roger might have heard the buzz too and decided to come to AI again and check Adam out for themself. Mainstream America didn't and dont appreciate Adam's talent but these legend does. I wonder if we ever know who're these Led Zeppelin's kids that're fans of Adam.

The rumor that Adam is going to be on Idol is now all over the place because of Toby's tweets... toby knapp @tkradioi'm hoping I run into @adamlambert at #americanidol next week b/c we've got some thaaaaaaaaaangzzz to talk about...
and @krisallen, too... all positive, and good stuff and i want their perspective on some things...AmIdol ratings sucked last week (Down 38% from last year) so maybe they will have Kris and Adam do a sing off!! HA! Seriously...is there any other indication Adam will be at Idol next week? ETA: No matter what else you do -- also use Mediabase to request. More info here: adamtopia.com/index.cgi?board=strategy&action=display&thread=650How about this?? Kris is going to be on and he, Krisstan that he is, is trying to get the numbers up?? That would explain it. Cause Toby is not anywhere near LA, now is he? Sounds rational -- and very plausible. But the absolutely crazy concept and Adam and Kris doing a sing-off on Idol -- like the walk off in Zoolander -- with David Bowie as the MC/Ref would just be wonderful.

I am stealing this from another board because last week, I did number comparisons for the videos that made VH1 countdown and compared them to BTIKM. But since this person did it for me, this week, I would like to post this. It clearly shows that whatever criteria VH1 uses, they must make it up as they go along! We don't know how much voting actually counts or if payola of some kind plays a part. When looking at the videos that made the countdown this week there are two songs that are lower in total (easily trackable) radio play in the US (stats from All Access today).
One is #20 on the cd, namely The All American Rejects "Beekeeper's Daughter" with a total spin number of 750 and total AI of 2.024 (#50 CHR, #48 HAC). The song is currently #542 on iTunes.
The other is #19, namely Safety Suits "These Times" with a total spin number of 180 and total AI of 0.735 (#46 HAC). The song is not in the iTunes top1000.
In comparison BTIKM has a total spin number of 861 and total AI of 3.077 (#59 CHR, #29 HAC) and is #741 on iTunes. (radio totals are HAC stats for today and CHR stats for yesterday). If this is someone from ATop, great job!

A preview of Elton's party; looks like Katy bought a table. So, this is where I'm hoping Sauli was hinting they'll be.
Brings back memories of burrito gate. Here, we were hoping he'd go to a party last year and instead we got a burrito pic because he was headed to ........ DENVER!!! (synchronicity, but wait a day or two this time, okay, A??) We want gorgeous red carpet boyfrand pics!!

I's love to hear Adam sing this but wonder if it is a bit too close to home for Freddie fans. Wonderful video. youtu.be/0GNJ1SQpxFINo real QUEEN fan would object because Brian May wrote this song and sang lead vocal on a large part of the song. There are some Freddie fans who are a bit religious about preserving his memory and legacy. But I think most QUEEN fans, are fans of the entire band. What would QUEEN have been without John Deacon's bass? (he retired in 1997). I'm glad you said that about Queen fans. It seems that the focus of most online comments I've seen are about Freddie=Queen, and some dissing of Rodger and Brian. As a casual radio-listening kid in the '70s I didn't know the names of any of the group members (except for Beatles and Mick). I have admitted my ignorance about popular music many times here, and I'll do it again. I didn't have a clue who people were talking about during AI when they were comparing Adam to Freddie, Plant, and Tyler. I knew music from each of their bands, but singer names? ??? ??? ??? Meant nothing to me. But I'm learning [pats self on back].

I wonder if we ever know who're these Led Zeppelin's kids that're fans of Adam. I agree it is possible they knew of Adam -- just a big leap to go from they might have known Adam to they agreed to do Idol because of Adam. All we know for sure if that they were impressed with Adam after the performance -- and so were many viewers. Led Zeppelin clearing their first song for Adam -- it could be they did it because their kids were Adam fans it also be that Idol offered them then right amount of money and their kids were fans. They also cleared a song for Haley Reinhart last year and I doubt their kids were Haley fans.

Question: How important is the VH1 Top 20 tv broadcast? Do young people watch videos on tv or is it mostly older farts folks? My teen soon watch MV on Youtube and I watch from TV, especially for new music. I like to know what's the trend plus there are some good stuff there. In Toronto, Top 30 MV in Muchmusic Countdown broadcast every Friday night and weekends. Top20 MV broadcast daily every few hours on our local TV music channel, good exposure. Most of the time, I will buy a song I like after watching the MV. It's just a habit for me and same as my son. Buying music--I'm all for that. Thanks for your input.
