I am going to say it one more time and if it is ignored again I will conclude that my idea has met with zero favour. My suggestion is that you offer to match donations by 30% to honour adam's 30th birthday....similar to all the $29 donations that were made last year...up to total of ???...now $4,600. I worded the tweet roughly, to get things started, as: @adamlambert CharityWater top-up by Adamtopia of 30% for 30'th BD, up to $4,600! label #LeapYearChallenge tinyurl.com/7wms3gw Wording may need to change but if people tag their donation as #LeapYearChallenge, it will be easy enough to collect the total at the end of the day and work-out/announce totals. This does not discourage any offers and makes a significant difference. Much easier to work out that staggering set amounts, IMHO I like the 30 idea. What if we just modify it a bit. I believe that HSM was on to something when she set it up to inspire people to make small donations. And most donor matches are $1 for $1 donated. So what if we match up to $5 but encourage people to donate $30 in honor of Adam's birthday? Oh I don't take anything personal or any such thing but I think what you will have if you do that is a mess of people donating $5 over and over to maximize their 'donation'....that is what I would do. Urge people to donate $30 and the match becomes 10 ...easy to keep track of. Just seems the money has much more potential to be maximized that way. Another option may be simply to offer to top-up any $30 dollar bid with $10....same amount but encourages the specific amount and keeps it simple. People that want to donate more will do so in $30 increments ... which sure beats $5 ones. The advantage to the 30% offer is that it also encourages those small donations that was the original intent of the idea. A percentage offer is always more enticing than a set amount....I used 30 because of adam's birthday but it could be 50% too..... |
