In November 2011 at the invitation of Brian May and Roger Taylor Lambert made a second time with the group at the closing ceremony of the MTV Europe Awards, where the Queen received the award «Global Icon Award». Eight minutes of performances on the show thrilled the entire internet: social networking roared with delight and calls for the continuation of the Queen with Lambert. I wish Adam would put something special on ebay (like one of his sketches) with the proceeds going to Charity Water. I see only 3 donations today so far and a total of 2 yesterday. Something is needed to jump start this - I don't think our challenge will do it. Sorry to not be positive about this. I hope I'm wrong!!!I think it's partly because there is so much going on right now that we're spending all of our time squeeing. And rightly so! :D Also - many of us are saving our $$$ for travel to concerts & cd purchases. Thanks wal. Makes sense. The challenge doesn't officially start until tomorrow, so I'm sure many people are waiting to make their donation then. I know I am. Yes, people are saving money for travel and concerts, but all we're asking for is a $5 donation. I just spent $5,000 to put a new roof on my house, for Pete's sake, but I will be donating $5, which will be matched by the generous posters here at Adamtopia. We need people to spread the word at every board and social networking site they can think of, and please, everyone, tweet Adam about the campaign. If he would tweet to his 1.36 million followers, I have no doubt it would make a huge difference. But he gets so many tweets that the chances he'll see any one tweet are small. But maybe hundreds of tweets telling him about the Leap Day challenge would get his attention. Has the challenge been made over at AO (the Adam Official site, the one that's really hard to read 'cuz it's white on black)? I think that there'd be fans there who would make a donation to be matched.
Any Adam fan sites would be good places to share the matching challenge, I think.

We should be counting over a 48-hour period, from when the first time zone gets to Feb 29 until the last time zone leaves Feb 29 ... in some parts of the world it has been Feb 29 for several hours, but we can't tell on the Charity Water page where the donations are coming from ... so I say let's give them all the benefit of the doubt and count for 48 hours! I agree. I already see three contributions with the Leap Day challenge tagline, so they will be included in the total. I'm guessing that most of the contributions will start coming in tomorrow, though. |

I am slow sometimes. I just realized that the Moscow gig is not part of a festival. Don't know if they will have an opening act, but, we can expect a full-length concert. How long did Queen generally perform? Are we thinking at least 90 minutes? Really? Divine! But, Adam will be very busy for a time leading up to the gig. I would expect a week or two of rehearsals, at least. Damn! Someone should be doing a documentary of this collaboration. Wouldn't backstage and rehearsal videos be awesome? The best idea ever! I want a 90 120 minutes "Queen returning to Knebworth 26 years later" TV documentary, which will show the weeks leading up to the festival: the song selection process, rehearsals, decision making about all the details (including clothes!  , and of course the Moscow concert. And interviews w Roger, Brian and Adam integrated at the various stages of the process. Done right, it could make some terrific television IMO: the excitement of a huge rock phenomenon, mixed with sentiments from the past, and the new-comer's exciting journey to the top - all the materials are already there. |
