Okay, I'll whack down anything above Adam for awhile, while you all whack him up - OK? Can anybody play this game or just locals?

I have a question for those of you who know about guitars. I noticed that Tommy has a metal bar that he clips onto the neck of the guitar for BTIKM. What does it do? To stop the guitar from being too loud I think Actually, it is to change the tuning or key (the overall pitch of the song) of the guitar. Certain keys are easier to chord than others on the guitar. So, let's say that Adam is singing in the early morning, and wants the song pitched lower because his voice hasn't warmed up sufficiently at that time of day. The guitarist might tune the strings of the guitar to lower pitches. Then, later in the day, when Adam's voice is warmer, he wants to sing the same song in a higher key. It is easier for the guitarist to put the capo on the neck, shortening the strings so that they are higher in pitch than to re-tune the entire guitar or learn alternate and more difficult chording for the same song. Or Adam may want to sing the first song of the set in a lower key, and the next in a higher key, that is much more difficult to chord. No problem. Put the capo on, shorten the strings, and use the same fingering and chording as in the first song. (In concerts, the guitarist will usually have multiple guitars tuned for multiple keys or sounds or textures, but, bringing multiple guitars to a radio gig like this is a pain.)

uh - oh. He's not budging. Same as earlier scenario. Search for BTIKM and then just stays at the bottom like now! >:( but I will keep hitting up the green button!

Just returned from Pinz WXLO promo. It was an amazing intimate setting...so much to share about it, but exhausted. Adam seemed more relaxed then his other gigs today. Regular songs. He is heading for NYC tonight. Yay, waiting for your recap!!

I can't help but have a sneaking suspicion, though, tbh, that it's not completely under voters' control. I think they might put a "hold" on a song for awhile (just a feeling I get). But I'm whacking!

Yeah, I agree with the poster earlier, that said that Trespassing is too sophisticated for radio. But I'm loving the song now, and just can't imagine how it'll sound on the radio. Gah, I need this album now. I'm loving every song so far. At this rate, I wonder if there's going to be any song that I won't love/like.

I am besotted with the London performance of Trespassing. Can't stop watching/listening. There is so much wonderful-ness in that performance.
First off, it's aural and visual sex! DAMN!! You know how I love me some Adam ballads, but, my Lawd, that is hawt, and vocally, so impressive. He just explodes --- and that is just watching the computer. For me, that is more satisfying to watch and listen to than an XXX rated porn movie. (Okay, maybe that was a little too much information. Sorry. And, I admit, I haven't watched any XXX porn movies, but I can imagine.)
Vocally, tho', this one blows my mind in a new direction. His voice is so percussive. He maintains the drive, the beat, the funk with his vocals alone. Yes, we have the minimal backing, but most of it originates with HIM. At first I thought this was such a contrast to his usual lyrical lines and extended phrases. But, upon repeated listening, he IS actually maintaining the lyrical line and phrase, connecting the notes. It is just that he attacks the individual notes so hard it is deceptive.
His articulation is also stellar. I understand every word as it whizzes by. Most pop singers have trouble even articulating clearly in slower numbers and ballads; rapid lyrics are pretty much incomprehensible mumbles. Not Adam. He uses the consonants as percussion instruments.
And then, there is the melody. It moves so rapidly with such staccato that he has to hit those notes squarely on, with no time to adjust. Like rapidly firing a gun at a moving target. Still, he manages to imbue the notes with that warm resonance. I am thinking this song, so fun and defiant, so infectious and quick, is actually quite a challenge to sing.
His album is going to be such a sonic treat!
Back to watch it one more time.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. That makes a lot of sense, since I noticed he only had it for BTIKM, but not the other song (which changed from place to place) that was being performed.
