About Moscow, finally got ticket confirmation + train tickets + hotel booking + baby sitter. Still fixing the visa. So it seems that I am really going!! Yay! I have been in snippet heaven. Just jammin'! Especially since I cut NCOE from my song loop. "Trespassing" is sooo good, "Cuckoo" still rules (and remains my top pick for next single), but "Naked Love" is owning me right now. I'm going to love this album so much!

I am a little voice in the wilderness who likes NCOE ! Could be a sleeper! Pun intended ! I think it's the one radio might really get behind, and I really like it, too! A co-write won't help Adam, if radio doesn't play it. "Naked Love" is my personal favorite of the four snippets but I also think there's no way RCA chooses it. And I get that, unfortunately. As for the idea of throwing caution to the wind, selecting a single DESPITE it not fitting radio - that's not going to get Adam where he wants to go, I don't think. People say, "Well, 'safe' gave us BTIKM." And I think, yep! And I'm glad because BTIKM made it to 50 on the Top 40 mediabase chart and 20 on the HAC chart (so far). Of course, I want Adam to go to #1. But every artist with a song wants that. And, if they don't get that, they want top 10, top 15, top 20, etc. TONS of artists are out there fighting for those spots. And Adam starts out with strikes against him. Big strikes. It's not fair, but "it's life." Adam is already and is continuing to beat the odds IMO. Hopes are one thing, but some expectations may be unrealistic. Maybe few here feel this way, but I actually think BTIKM has done very well for Adam, overall. (I'd elaborate, but I'm going on too much already.) I think, all in all, Adam is sitting VERY pretty - exceptionally pretty, oc because he's Adam - in the world right now. And I cannot see ANYthing negative in the fact that what I think is the most radio-friendly song of these four clips is written by one of if not THE hottest male singer/songwriters in pop right now. I'm THRILLED Adam's got a song from Mars and am extremely hopeful that if it is the next single, Adam sings it on AI. Unless, of course, I'm completely wrong and "Naked Love" is next, goes to number one, etc. etc.! ITA!!!

I'm wondering if the fact that Adam has performed Trespassing and Cuckoo on this promo tour, but not yet NCOE or NL, means those are the two that are in the running for next single. You'd think that he'd want to try out the song he'll be singing for the next 4 months (and forever after) first in front of a live audience. That's my hope - Cuckoo and Trespassing are definitely my favorites, and Cuckoo seems like a surer bet for a first crack at Top40. I think just the opposite could be true. My bet is RCA is going with NCOE for various reasons. I like ALL four of these new songs, but I don't care what they go with for single #2- just so it GETS POP PLAY! That is the only thing I need from a radio single. It doesn't have to be my favorite song, written by Adam or one that is the best at showcasing his voice. I can buy the album and watch live performances for those things! My hope is that RCA is sending these songs to the big CHR stations and asking their opinions and they are securing some radio support from the big stations BEFORE they release single #2. I don't care what song is a "fan favorite". I want a song that is a favorite of radio stations for the next single!

Great news, Sugaree! You must be so relieved. I've been listening to all the snippets again this morning (thanks for the much-better-sounding downloads, Gelly) and they are ALL SO GOOD! So we KNOW the songs are good enough, and the albums getting very good reviews in the press now... if the stars align just right maybe that damn wild card RADIO will get on board and the album will go CUCKOO!!

I disagree. He was not pulled into any directions. He chose it. . He said repeatedly he loves pop music. IMO no one forced him to make this kind of sound. It's the sound he loves. Whether any of you like this sound is another story. I know he likes pop music. But in no way do I think he didn't base a lot of his decisions on what will give him success. He has said so in the past (sorry can't pull up exactly where). He has talked about balancing his artistic integrity. Early on he talked about how pop was the way to go over rock because rock doesn't sell. Before starting album number two he said it would probably go down the WWFM path since that's what sold (Lindsey Parker interview I believe--around grammy time?). He talks about "knowing what his fans want". I don't mean to imply that Adam is a puppet. He is true to himself. But he is a shrewd businessman. Other issues pull him in directions to get him to his ultimate goal of longevity (via being a big radio success). His talk about balancing his artistic integrity IMO has nothing to do with the music he loves. It has to with him facing all the difficulties being gay, politics, radio etc. He recentely said so. And after that very first Lyndsey Parker interview that happened as soon as the tour ended he did talk about WWFM and what his fans want, but very recently he talked about deciding making the music he wants. That's why the first months after the tour he was recording songs that didn't make the album and then he completely changed route after he met Pharrell. I don't remember which interview but I do remember that we were talking about it a lot and praising him for this.
