Off topic but posting an update here because so many of you cared... That extended family member I mentioned who was having such a hard time in his conservative college environment, with encouragement, now feels empowered enough to change his situation. He is transferring to another school with a more liberal environment for the fall. He put together a sound, reasonable plan for himself, informed his parents calmly about what he was doing and how it would benefit him, and said he hoped he would have their support, but understood their decision was up to them, just as his decisions about his life were up to him to make. His family is sticking with him. "Aftermath" came up somewhere in our conversations; he is shedding his armour and already he is starting to feel like he has fallen into the glitter. Adam gave this as one of his favorite lyrics recently, and now it has another added layer of meaning for me.  I am so glad Adam is out there being visible and real. That is beautiful & wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY  |
