I believe that new recurrency rules went into effect last week, so older songs will not stay on the charts so long. Does not mean that radio will not continue to play them, however. It's one of the reasons that Rihanna's song got removed last week and surprised everybody.
As I understand it these are the new rules according to a poster on pulse (so it must be right, yes?):
Also new recurrent rules for all formats except Country and AC: Songs below No. 10 are removed from the chart after 20 weeks provided they have peaked in the Top 10. If a song has not peaked in the Top 10, it must be down in spins for two consecutive weeks and have been on the chart over 20 weeks.
Time will tell if this is correct.

There were other songs that did less on radio & were higher on the CD. And it certainly wasn't a lack of voting. ETA = Just did my 80 for the day. Tomorrow will tell. |
