I went to see Jesus Christ Superstar on Broadway yesterday. I really enjoyed it but I was distracted during the Judas songs. Although the actor playing Judas was excellent (played by the understudy at this performance), I kept imagining Adam playing the role. It is the perfect role for Adam. I doubt if we'll ever see him on the stage in this role but I hope that someday he records an album of his favorite show tunes. Which ones do you think he would include? This would be such a great question for Adam! Everything from Peter Pan, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Fiddler on the Roof, 110 in the Shade, The Twentieth Century, Little Mary Sunshine, Brigadoon, Secret Garden, Hair, My Fair Lady, Pump Up the Volume . . . Zodiac Shows, Musical Revues from aboard ship . . . the shows from high school . . . Adam is a fucking encyclopedia of music! I would love, just love, to hear what his favorite songs from these musicals are. I would be amazed to hear of a song from one of the old Rodgers & Hammerstein or Rodgers & Hart collaborations; or (be still my heart) something from Cole Porter's "Kiss Me Kate" or (break my heart) anything from Harold Arlen. I'm really not a dinosaur! This music is timeless and incredibly touching. I would love to find out if Adam concurs. I think Adam is committed to pop music/dance music/funk for the time being. Cannot realistically imagine him making a show tunes album. Having said that, my fantasy is that somewhere down the line, maybe in five years, when he is an established top tier mega star, he will do an album of "Going back to my roots" and include the many great musical theater songs. I would love to hear Lily's Eyes after hearing the raves about it when Adam sang it. And JCS. And reprise CTMBTM. Andrew Lloyd Weber, Sondheim, Rogers and Hammerstein, Bernstein, Porter, Gershwin.... so many classic, beautiful songs that Adam would absolutely own. Might sound impossible, but McCartney just did an album of standards he listened to growing up... like from the 30's. If Macca can do it, why not Adam?

If you google Brian London Bruno Mars, you will see several photos of them together. They appear to have a close musical relationship. For example, Brian can be seen playing keyboard in a Billboard special video Bruno did at the time his first solo single "Just the Way You Are" was being introduced.
My guess is that since Bruno is recording his new album, and not on the road now, he is "loaning" Brian to Adam for the upcoming promo tour.
Today's music, other than country, has a heavy "urban" flavor. So I think in terms of the music and audience outreach, it will help Adam expand his appeal to have a musical director/keyboardist who has worked with Mars and several African-American performers (as well as Gaga,Katy, etc). Gaga first began to get attention on the gay club circuit, but it was the urban stations that were the first to play her on the radio. So I hope having Brian as musical director will work to increase Adam's crossover appeal.
The last few days when I checked out @adam lambert on twitter, I noticed several black males tweeting that they were listing to Adam's songs or quoting lyrics from his songs. As a guy, I have to notice that there are not a lot of men (even gay men) fanboying Adam on twitter. So if black men are tweeting positively about Adam, I take that as a good sign, and hope this portion of Adam's audience increases.

Well if you look at Rod Stewart he started doing standards when he hit about 60 I think... so that means Adams' first standards album would come out in about 30 years - so around 2044 : : :
