SHIT. JUST. GOT. REAL.
On another topic, way late too respond, but in answer to your question from earlier, rabbitrabbit:
I guess my thought is if someone doesn't want radio play to be part of the discussion, why worry about the single choice at all? Just talk about your personal favorite album songs and the ones you aren't as enamored with and forget about that whole side of it - it's not like core fans could (or even should many would argue) influence the choice anyway as aloha drolly pointed out. Singles are meant for radio, that is their sole purpose in life pretty much IMO -- though a cool video is a nice side benefit. Like juniemoon said, it's really two separate discussions, though both can be interesting.
I guess the reason I care about single choice even though I don't care THAT much about radio play--the reason the single question is still relevant to the personal preference question--is because I care about which songs Adam is most identified by by the general public. I want non-fans to see something of the same stuff in him that I do. And right now (setting aside the obviously awesome Idol times), based just on his singles, they don't get to see all the incredible charm we get to see. Their picture of Adam is very different from my picture of Adam. I'll be very happy with NCOE as a single if that's what's chosen--I like the song--but what I'll mourn just a little is that NCOE doesn't exploit Adam's wicked sense of humor the way that Trespassing and particularly Cuckoo do. None of Adam's singles so far have. And if Cuckoo is the next single then THAT's what I'll celebrate--the idea of Adam being his wonderful wicked witty self on TV. NCOE will showcase his spectacular vocals, and that is an eternal thrill. But peeps already know he has pipes. I want non-fans to know about his cheekier charms, too. Does that makes sense?
Still, not bitching and moaning, and def not wailing like a banshee, at least not yet! Bring it on Adam--I'll cheer whatever you have to offer!
