I just want Adam to get some credibility as a songwriter. If I want to listen to Bruno Mars, I'll go listen to Bruno Mars, but no one's doing music like Adam's originals quite like he does. And it's good radio friendly stuff, so I don't see the problem. Let Bruno ride the airwaves with Bruno music, let Adam ride the airwaves with Adam music. It's only recently, like within the last 5 or so years, that pop singers gave writing a second thought. It's unnecessary and doesn't give a pop singer more credibility IMO....it's an illusion and most fans don't really know or care who writes the songs they listen to daily. for perspective; Kelly Clarkson wrote Because of You when she was 16 years old, it went to #1 on the world chart but her biggest hits in the U.S. are ALL songs she didn't write herself. If the song is a hit on radio and if it helps sell his album then that's all I personally care about. |

Loooong time lurker. I just want say I really like NCOE as a single. When I first heard the demo I nearly lost my shit (it a good way). It brought me back to college-which was some time (but not that long a time ago) when the motto was "We'll sleep when we're dead". Adam's news is kinda like Cleveland's weather. Wasn't that a vocal collab? Not necessarily a new song? Then when he was asked about it later he kind of backtracked and said it didn't mean anything was definite or in the works? Somebody correct me if I remembered wrong. Yes, your memory is correct. -- Does anyone remember how excited Adam sounded when he said he was going to collaborate with Bruno Mars? There were a couple interviews where he mentioned it and one where he looked as satisfied as a cat who just ate a mouse. -- There was a rumor that the vocal collab under discussion was with Bruno Mars. That they tried it in studio and it did not work. I have been unable to confirm this. But I cannot imagine their voices working together.and I can't imagine NCOE as a male-male duet. So I think this may be a false rumor. well... it would be a vocal suicide for a pop singer to duet with Adam. Especially the one that has "vocal" aspirations and managed to win the "vocalist" Grammy over Adam. So, if a duet was planned then at least Bruno was smart enough to avoid the embarrassment... I am not sure Adam realizes the predicament he is in... ;D ;D ;D But, of course, all of this is pure speculation... I can't believe we are going to have the new album and then shortly after that the FULL FOUR hours !!!!! of Queen covers....The anticipation is exhilarating  !! |

I think Adam was very careful not to reveal which two of the four tracks were being considered OR which track he preferred. If Larry is correct, and I think he is, it is not a surprised. I have believed it would be NCOE since the demo surfaced. The fact that RCA held up the album release to get it on the album was IMO a confirming sign. It is a very good choice for pop radio. What is most important for Adam is that Trespassing sells a lot and he needs a radio hit to do that. NCOE is a potential hit. But ONLY if it sounds like Adam!!! When he heard it on the radio, Heathcliff said, "And no it does not sound like the clip. Now it sounds EXACTLY LIKE BRUNO MARS!"  I kind of have to disagree here because many, many people said the same thing about WWFM, that he sounded EXACTLY like Pink. Well it didn't stop that from being a hit and the Pink connection was a big sell with radio, DJ's were constantly making a big deal out of it. So if it works the same way this time around and radio jumps all over it because it's a Bruno Mars song then I don't see how that can be considered a problem. If that's what it takes for radio to finally accept him then fine. We have plenty of ADAM songs on the album. |
