To be fair to Shoshanna, fans are tweeting her to death! :-/ Fans drove RCA Ed crazy. Let's hope they don't do the same to Shoshanna. *sigh.entitlement.much.* :-/ RCA Ed was kind of a jerk. >:( He was the same to Daughtry and Cook fans. Shoshanna is a professional and not some flunkie assigned to patrol artists fanboards. I bet she is used to intense fanbases. RCA Ed was probably generally pissed at his job assignment and decided to take it out on the "lowly ignorant fans". He had a general disdain for Idol fans and woman of a certain age. I'm glad he has moved on!

Yeah, most of my twitter feed has been wearing it for awhile and we all look very jaunty. ----------------- I've read fanfic in numerous fandoms for over a decade, and there are plenty of options for all tastes (gen fanfic is non-erotic for example). I'd say you can get a mistaken impression unless you google rec lists for your fandom, because while 80% or so is dross, 10-20% is very very good, in several cases better written than the source material. Professional authors write fanfic too, and some fanfic authors move into writing fiction professionally. A lot of (good) fanfic lives on Livejournal and Dreamwidth (which I believe is one of the largest open-source coding projects carried out by primarily female coders). Also plenty of fanfic writers and readers are academics, so there is lots of meta discussion of fanfic, history, societal impact, you name it. To give an idea of the size of this world, the largest site fanfic.net (known for quantity not quality, best avoided if you are looking for the latter) has 2.2 million users and stories in 30 languages. It hosts 585,562 Harry Potter stories for example, and 5 years ago comprised over 30% of all internet traffic directed to sites in the category of Entertainment, Books and Writing.

for finns:Have you seen this? www.mtv3.fi/ohjelmat/sivusto2008.shtml/viihde/idols/uutiset_finaalit?1526380I was there when Jone revealed that their song-choice for Torsten is IIHY (I was so thrilled to hear Adam's name, lol!! ;D)... It's interesting to hear what Torsten thinks about Adam (I know that Didi likes Adam very much!) but honestly I'm not sure about how good this performance will be... With him singing his 'own version'... : I'm sure, that Thorsten has now "too big boots"! Torsten has never even heard IIHY. He knows that Adam sings high, but he (Torsten) thinks, that he can sing lower. But the thing is not therein, at what level IIHY sung. Poor boy. Maybe the jury wants him out. But I hope very much that I'm wrong!!! lol, that's what I thought too... : The leather jacket comment was hilarious btw! ;D I write fanfiction too, not as much as I used to... It's fun, but rpf has never been my thing. And AU = Alternative Universe = means that something is different than in the original text/real life... like say you write fanfiction where Adam's natural hair color is black. Or Tommy isn't straight. That's when your story is AU.

OK I'm seriously getting a bit down over the lack of a new single announcement .Once new single is known, many will feel oh no they didn't choose this one or that one ,just hope we're all thrilled with any one of the new songs.. Boy Am I projecting..Bad me. I have noticed that over the last couple of years of being an Adam fan, whenever the wait for news seems endless , GREAT NEWS HAPPENS.. OK I'm good now.Back to my RL if it's still around. : :-[ :-/ Talk about mixed emotions

This is a bit OT and may have already been discussed. I just read an interesting article in the March 26, 2012 New Yorker magazine called "The Song Machine." It's mainly about the hitmakers behind Rihanna. It was an interesting read about how hits are made, the importance of a good hook, and how pop music evolves. Ester Dean has written a lot of hits for Rihanna, but she wants to be a solo artist too. Her collaborator, Eriksen, says, "A lot of writers want to be artists. Most of them can sing, and a lot of them can sing really well. But, to be able to perform, to be the person everyone looks at when you walk into the room, with all the publicity and touring, and then to be able to get that sound on the record -- that's not easy. You can be a great singer, but when you hear the record it's missing something." He was asked what is that? "It's a fat sound and there's a sparkle around the edges of the words."
I also just finished reading the Nile Rodgers' autobiography "Le Freak" and I would highly recommend it. Nile was constantly told that his music sounded too black, which made me think of Adam being told too gay, too theatrical, etc.
Finally, I watched the British Music Awards which I had recorded some time ago. It really made me realize how hard it is to reach the top and break out internationally. Adam is competing with all sorts of British artists trying for success. What was especially astounding was a band called "Blur" received a lifetime musical achievement award and I had never, ever heard of them!!
I am keeping my fingers crossed that whatever Adam's next single is, it will be a smash. I want to see him at the Brits next year!!!
