What? It's not real????? I've always boycotted stories where Adam is sleeping with someone outside the (don't judge me) Glamily. No Gerard Leto. No Bill Kaulitz. Can't remember who else. I think Adam should either sleep with Tommy, Kris, Sauli or stay celibate. By the way, I didn't know Adam could be a Vampire OR a Werewolf until I read those stories. Two college degrees and I have learned more from fan fiction in the last 4 months than 6 years of college. Nothing else to say on the subject except to encourage those who write them to keep their noses to the grindstone and not make you wait 3 or 4 weeks for the next installment on the good ones. You know who you are. Vampire or werewolf? It's sooo last century  I like him better as unicorn, merman, alien, robot, fox or shark ;D re: the fan fic discussion. There is a book that is getting a lot of publicity lately called Fifty Shades of Gray that actually orginated online as Twilight-based fan fiction. I’ve heard it described as “mommyporn”, which is kind of like slapping the term “chicklit” on any book that deals with relationships and sounds like another term just slung out there because it trivializes the fact that women might want to read about sex. (Unfortunately, I’ve also heard that it’s really badly written, which doesn’t help my arguement any!) I have waded into the shallows that is Adam fan fic before and I have to reiterate that 80% of it is really terrible. However, some of it is great and really fun to read. The ratio of Adam/Tommy to Adam/anybody else shows that A LOT of people are having trouble letting go of the fantasy of those two; however, as long as they get it all out on LiveJournal and not tweet it the living people they are fantasizing about, I think it’s pretty harmless. My goodness, some people have very active imaginations...! Lots of supernatural crossover stuff, too. |

Comments: Unicorn - Never seen an edgy unicorn Merman - I'd miss those long, long legs Alien - all depends what form that takes Robot - No, need Adam's heart and soul in my stories Fox - too small Shark - Don't stop moving long enough for anything good to happen I seem to be back to Werewolves and Vampires if we go outside the homo sapien world. I hope this is not too OT. I used to write fan fiction in another fandom, for a TV show. It was a cop show and the fan fiction that people wrote was essentially new episodes of the show. People often expanded on the characters by including back story that wasn't in the show, or featured supporting characters they liked and wanted to showcase. When someone told me there was a thing called "slash" fiction, I didn't know what they were talking about. I thought they meant "slash" like a "slasher" movie with blood and guts. I found out they meant fan fiction whose purpose was pornographic. The slash refers to the punctuation mark between the "pairing" as in "Kirk/Spock." The vast majority of slash fiction was homosexual pairings of male characters aimed at a female readership. This was all back in the 1990s. I don't know what the current state of this type of fan fiction is and whether anyone still writes their own TV episodes to share with other fans or not, or whether it is all slash these days. There is also fiction called "alternate universe" or "alternate history" involving real people. For example, I have a book of short stories called "Alternate Kennedys." Authors wrote stories on topics exploring ideas such as what would have happened if JFK hadn't died, or funny ideas such as what if the Kennedys had a rock band instead of going into politics. I admit I find the idea of "slash" fiction involving real people to be somewhat icky. You would have to be a very skilled writer of "alternate universe" to pull it off, for me. Does anyone write "non-slash" fan fiction about Adam? Over the last couple of years, I had a couple of ideas -- my long-lost Sleepwalker video idea, and a funny "Freaky Friday" idea about what would happen if Adam and Tommy somehow switched bodies before a big TV appearance. But I don't know if there is any audience for stories like that or it is all strictly the porno stuff. ETA: I have heard there is slash fan fiction involving politicians. {{{shudder}}} Anything you write I would READ! Your books are great and now my ds has them! |

US radio needs to get hit over the head to support something different. My hope is that when the album comes out, there will be some tracks that get so many DLs, radio might have to play one. That is exactly how Goyte's song made it to radio. It got so high on i-Tunes, radio had to succumb and play it! |
