Awwww!!! @jdurbinai10 James Durbin @adamlambert It was a pleasure meeting you tonight man. Thanks for the kind words. He'll Yeah I Will!:-) 1 hour ago via Twitter for Android Another reason to love Adam!! I'm sure, from what we've read on twitter, that everyone thought there might be distention between the 2. Well, Durbin, anyways...lol! So, Adam goes there and gives him advice and James takes it and tweets about it. Adam is the most amazing person EVER!!!! He is the bestest PR dude in the world!!!! GO ADAM!!!!!!!!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! I so love this ride!!!!!!! I think James Durbin was actually a little bit embarrassed (after the fact) that he compared himself to Adam and was shocked at the backlash of that. He began trying to back pedal quickly to reverse that before it got any worse. I also think he was probably feeling a bit nervous to meet Adam tonight, thinking that Adam might be upset. Now he has met Adam and found out how humble, generous, and downright unassuming Adam is and he's a fan!!!! Based only on a gut feeling.....

HIYA PEEPS!!! :D :D :D :D Just checking in after a busy night, and haven't read the thread so I don't know what the consensus is (and am never gonna be able to now!-76pp? DAAaaaaamn, girls!). BUT.... I did manage to sneek cheekily over to AMW's house to watch Idol with her, and let me tell, you, this is coming from a girl who never really grew to love aftermath ( ???) and !I LOVED IT SO MUCH! I thought it was SUCH a classy performance. I'm not one who has fully embraced the toned down thing Adam's been doing lately--I mean, he looks gorgeous and perfect, not arguing that, but I have been known to occasionally miss a spike or two--but in this case, I thought his direct and natural look worked soooo perfectly. There was not one gram of showing off in his performance tonight (though I laahve it when Adam shows off 8-))--he was just being straight-forward, direct, happy-but-serious--and I think that's why I loved this Aftermath the most of any aftermath we've seen. See, my problem with the song has always been that I have an annoyingly oversensitive nature when it comes to sentimental material--my schmaltz-sensor is on a hair trigger--and there was something about the song that had a little bit too much of that in it (just for me, not claiming I'm being reasonable here) even in the stripped down GNT performance with Monte. But tonight the addition of the rhythm of the base and the drums (WORD, Mika, on Tommy's hair!), the lightness of it, the directness of the tone, it worked perfectly for me. And Adam somehow managed to keep everything candid and matter of fact while still communicating intense emotion, so that when half way through he said "anytime anybody pulls you down, anytime anybody says you're not allowed" and pointed his finger like every one of us was a specific person he was talking to directly, the moment had such perfect honesty and meaning, without seeming sentimental or cheesy-motivational in the least. And then the big note, coming after all this frank singing, had such strength and realness...GAH--loved it, he really was doing it perfectly. And then, to follow this serious, direct song with such a naturally giddy smile, and the goofiness, which showed the perfect combination of being comfortable on the stage but still being totally excited to be there--the little play with JLo, the little dance. MOst of all the smile the smile the infinite, but so approachable, smile. Honestly, his whole appearance was WIN WIN WIN. I made AMW rewind it and we watched again right away. Loved it even more the second time. Really, classy's the word. CLASS. SSSYY. 8-) Can you tell I was excited about the evening? Okay, gonna wallow in the happy for a bit before bed, and stop blathering all over this nice and tidy thread .

haven't had a chance to go back thru the thread, are peeps complaining about Adam's performance? I did notice that Steven Tyler didn't look really thrilled........ Hehe!! I think ST was a bit *confused, but happy*!! Quoting (kinda, sorta) Kara here. Not gonna judge ST about this one. It was his first time hearing Adam live. I so remember the one and only time I heard/saw him live. I was motionless for most of it. I was so in awe of what I was seeing that I had a hard time believing I actually saw him. I'll give ST a break for now. But, he'd better get with it soon...hahaha! I have enjoyed him on AI, although he tends to be a bit soft hearted, and that does surprise me somewhat. Maybe a bit more into the season that will change. I will admit to being an AI watcher from the beginning. I'm not ashamed of that at all. I love seeing new talent (or no-talent...hehe) and I'm hooked on the show, even if I complain about it sometimes. But, if you think about it, without AI, we wouldn't have our beautiful Adam. At least not the way we do have him. I know he's grateful for AI, so I will continue to be. Didn't vote last year, and might or might not this year. I was more invested in the earlier years up to Adams year, but couldn't vote as I was always working when you could vote. I think this year is a lot better than last year. And, we all have to remember that these kids are just trying to do what Adam did. They might not have the talent or charisma, but they love what they do and are living their dreams. Gotta give em kudos for that. I will never put anyone of them down for that.

Just a reminder -- this forum is built on a few principles -- but most importantly respect. You can disagree with another person' opinion but there is not a right kind of Adam fan.
Threads are like the ocean -- they have waves. But after two years there is a clear pattern. Adam is going to perform -- as it approaches people get really excited. Then it happens and some things are not as expected. First there is the that was great comments. Then the issues are noted. Then it swings back to that was great. Then people who commented on the details listen to the whole performance and decide it was fine, great, amazing, etc. You can see it in every perform thread for 2 years.
Now for my nit pick ----- and I would only bother to comment on this about an Adam performance.
The section is at 2:40 in the performance -- it needed a slightly longer break for the transition when he shifted from the rock wail to the end of the song. This was an unresolved part of the arrangement and it puzzles me. My only thought is Adam extended his wail longer then he planned and did not have a good way to get to the next part of the song. It is like he got caught up in the moment of the song.

I think that it is not that just that we really love Adam and are super invested in him that causes us to be so sensitive to any possible flaw in anything he does, real or imagined. it is in my opinion possibly the fact that some are just so used to the hate thrown at him from within the Idol world on a daily basis that perfection is craved at every step to give no purchase to the hate. The vast majority of the 24 million people who just watched him on Idol have no understanding of this and just saw a gorgeous sexy man with an incredible voice sing a lovely song with bongo drums and a cool band. Having said all that, I thought he was PERFECT......of course, I am three martinis down Beautifully said :D

Just saw it on TV. AMAZING. Just perfect. The performance was about the message of the song. No playing to the camera. Making contact with the people in the audience. He looked wonderful. It was great to see his 'boys' with him.... AWESOME.
