I think I love all the songs almost equally, but Shady is definitely edging some of them out.

If you listen to Top 20 right now, the songs and artists doing well have some very different sounds.
RCA are fucking idiots. They should have released Shady. Different sound and people would say Woah, who is that. Then he would take off.
I must repeat, RCA are fucking idyuts.

So, in Kickin In--Are all the back up vocals Adam? Doesn't sound like it but I will never underestimate this man EVAH again.

NGL, when I first heard FYE I was...whelmed. I liked Fever, WWFM, and a couple of the others, but my overall response was a bit meh.
Wasn't going to get my hopes up for this, knowing that Adam Loves Pop and Noreaster...notsomuch. BTIKM was fine, NCOE better, but neither exactly rocked my foundations. And I'm far too much of a taciturn Yankee to squee much, anyway.
Now this. This is...CRAZY good. Of course, I am funk's bitch, so that's always a good start, and any song that highlights his vocals like Underneath I'm all over, but I never expected to spend nearly four hours today chair dancing to a bunch of half-songs. My abs actually hurt (must get Shady on my workout playlist STAT).
Bravo, AFL. Very, very well done.
Thanks so much for all of the links and the fun today, everyone...g'night.
ETA: Oh, and I'm pretty sure I want to have Nile Roger's baby.

You hear so many of his musical influences. Does anyone else hear En Vogue-esque harmonies in Shady? Very "Free your mind" when he says "I ain't broken, but I need a fix." And Sam Sparrow is SEXAY on that track!! Oh I did! Hit me in the face like a trout in first snippet so I immediately jumped to next song. (Love FYM! - Just not crazy bout soundalikes personally). But remembering the unreliability of snippets, I checked out 2nd snip that doesn't start w that bit and felt much much more positive w song starting completely differently so that bit becomes part of diverse landscape. I'll need many listens to absorb before I can really appreciate Adam's lovely work but I will say that for me my fav songs SO FAR are the ones that don't remind me of someone else. (Also, I'm still not inclined to dis NCOE - esp since it's my single and I plan to support it like a beast!). COULD NOT RESIST Read your email my friend

OK, LISTEN UP ATOPPERS!!! SHADY HAS ALMOST THE SAME KIND OF BEAT AS STAYIN ALIVE BY THE BEE GEES. SO WHAT, YOU MIGHT ASK... WELL, MY FIRST-AID INSTRUCTOR SAID THAT WHEN SOMEONE HAS A HEART ATTACK AND YOU'RE DOING CPR, YOU SHOULD DO IT TO THE BEAT OF STAYIN ALIVE. SO... WHEN I'M AT A CONCERT AND I'M IN CARDIAC ARREST BECAUSE ADAM'S SINGING UNDERNEATH, REMEMBER TO USE SHADY WHEN YOU'RE GIVING ME CPR. BETTER YET... GET ADAM TO ACTUALLY SING SHADY WHILE YOU'RE TRYING TO SAVE ME. BUT, IF YOU CAN'T SAVE ME, DON'T WORRY... I'LL HAVE DIED LISTENING TO MUSIC THAT'S BETTER THAN ANYTHING THEY HAVE IN HEAVEN. THAT IS ALL. Seoulmate, you know I love you but it's a bit entitled to expect us to interrupt the boogie to revive you, no? Tell you what, I'll yell 'piper down' and carefully place the toe of my new boot on your sternum and CPR to the beat until help arrives. Multitasking - a key fandom skill

I agree -- RCA A&R are F'ing idiots BUT UK and US Radio Exec heard this music too -- and they also picked NCOE.
That said -- I WILL BE BUYING NCOE the moment I can -- around midnight!!
