Interesting you all are discussing the gum chewing. Adam is always so attentive & spot on during interviews. When I have noticed the gum chewing in the past, VERY RARE, I just thought it had something to do with keeping his vocal chords moist by swallowing etc. Stupid me, I really did think it was some vocal trick, like he drinks tea w/honey. It could very well be how he keeps his throat moist. My mother suffers from dry mouth and throat, and she finds chewing gum very helpful in alleviating the problem.

Jeez, I am the only one here, sorry to keep hogging the thread. For twitter number freaks like me, Adam gained 1717 new followers in the past 12 hrs.

Slightly OT, but not completely. TrevorProject: Preview Daniel Radcliffe's interview with @katiecouric for the @cbssunday morning news: bit.ly/DRcbsnewsDaniel Radcliffe is another person who, like Adam, I have adored since first laying eyes on him. I can only describe it as visceral. I was a huge fan of the Harry Potter books before the movies started and followed the casting process very closely. I knew they were having a tough time finding Harry and then in this moment of pure serendipity, they found him and there has never been a time (particularly when he was very young) that I didn't look at him and think to myself, "God, I love that kid! I don't know what it is exactly, but I just adore him." The smile, the eyes, charisma and utter lack of guile are a HUGE part of it, of course. The same is true for Adam, which I think lends itself to the Gawker piece. They are both so unabashedly joyous and emotional and open. Cut to years later and Radcliffe has become such an articulate, sensitive man. He is so quick-witted, humble and charismatic in interviews as well. Love that he is so deeply committed to the Trevor Project. atop.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=preidolperformances&thread=21&page=1

Maybe this is what Adam is doing too. :D It is entirely possible. There may be a reason behind it. And he was considerate. It's not like he was chomping on it while speaking and it was only noticeable when he had to reposition it to answer a question that I even realized.

Just have to share a story from work today. The gal who works in the office with me is an Idol fan and pretty conservative. We compare notes after every show. During Adam's season, she was always enthusiastic about Adam, even hoping he would win. After the performance that shall not be named, her enthusiasm definitely cooled. Over the last year, we have rarely talked about him other than a few comments here and there when he was on Idol last year. When I heard Adam was going to be on Idol this week, I just couldn't contain my enthusiasm any longer. I let her know how excited I was about his being back on Idol and how I just LOVE him. This morning she made her way to my office and she brought up Adam's performance. She was gushing just like a real fangirl. He was amazing, he is soooo handsome, no one can sing like Adam. All I could do was ! I think there are many who had the same reaction as my friend last night. This performance for Adam was such a win. Those who liked/loved him to begin with were indeed reminded of how fabulous he is and are back in the fold. His support of the Trevor Project is something that even the most conservative can appreciate. No one wants to see a young person hurting. Do I think my friend is ready for Floorbert? Maybe not yet, but progress was made! Resistance is futile!
