Just have to share a story from work today. The gal who works in the office with me is an Idol fan and pretty conservative. We compare notes after every show. During Adam's season, she was always enthusiastic about Adam, even hoping he would win. After the performance that shall not be named, her enthusiasm definitely cooled. Over the last year, we have rarely talked about him other than a few comments here and there when he was on Idol last year. When I heard Adam was going to be on Idol this week, I just couldn't contain my enthusiasm any longer. I let her know how excited I was about his being back on Idol and how I just LOVE him. This morning she made her way to my office and she brought up Adam's performance. She was gushing just like a real fangirl. He was amazing, he is soooo handsome, no one can sing like Adam. All I could do was ! I think there are many who had the same reaction as my friend last night. This performance for Adam was such a win. Those who liked/loved him to begin with were indeed reminded of how fabulous he is and are back in the fold. His support of the Trevor Project is something that even the most conservative can appreciate. No one wants to see a young person hurting. Do I think my friend is ready for Floorbert? Maybe not yet, but progress was made! Resistance is futile! A great story! I think, little by little, even the most conservative will come aroound to Adam, even here in backward Bama! ;D I think so too. Those who choose not to adore him are just missing so much joy!

Regarding last night's "nitpicking" -- I think it's in our nature as invested fans to analyze every tiny detail of a performance. Some of us need to know he did "ok" before we can sit back and enjoy the ride, especially when he is on a huge platform like Idol. Just because we notice a slight imperfection doesn't make us critical or love him any less. Alison's point kinda resonates with me and the performance has since grown on me so all's well I guess ;D. Oh and to add musiciflife's critique I've brought over the DDD techies analyses.

Sinisterism
I prefer to hear critics from people I respect to know what they're talking about....

I'm much too quick on the draw and not observant enough. My apologies to Squirrely007. I am very laid back, but have a hair trigger on 2 subjects, Adam and traffic. I seem incapable of being mellow about either, but I'll try. No problem, BB!! It's easy to do when we're scanning things all the time. It happens on Twitter a lot when you RT something and someone then thinks you said that and they react and you don't know what they're reacting too .... *sigh* I find I'm often going so fast at my job that I read emails at a glance. The other day I was responding to someone saying, "You left out the most important information ..." but before I hit Send, I thought, "Maybe I better reread that, just in case ..." Thank god I did, because she HAD included exactly what I was going to ask her for. : : I just wanted to make sure everyone knew Squirrely is definitely one of us. And chalk me up to the #adamdefiesmypetpeeves club. I am NOT a gum person. I rarely chew it. I'm not squeamish at all, but when people stick gum in public places it squicks me out. And someone chewing gum in an interview? but Adam managed to pull that off. (Well, at least not grate my last nerve with it.) But if I was his PR agent, I would say, "PLEASE, do NOT chew gum in an interview, please!" I never was allowed to chew gum as a teenager. If my mother caught me with it I would get slapped. "Get that sh*t out of your mouth". I might have chewed gum for a while afterward, but I never had a gum-chewing habit. In the 80's, the big accounting firms (Price Waterhouse, KPMG...) didn't allow you to chew gum. If you did, it appeared on your employee evaluation. (Men were also not allowed to have facial hair, and everyone had to put their suit jackets on just to walk over to the copy machine - sigh - but that's another story) I haven't had a piece of gum in my mouth in about 30 years.
