JMHO -- I think that Adam could have a song nominated that got critical acclaim but had somewhat modest sales. But I doubt he can win a Grammy without commercial success.
Look at the history of Best Male Pop Vocal winners....there are hits and then there are these songs.....
2010 "Make It Mine" performed by Jason Mraz Did not make B Hot 1002009 "Say" performed by John Mayer B Hot 100 #25 2007 "Waiting On The World To Change" performed by John Mayer B Hot 100 #14 2006 From the Bottom of My Heart performed by Stevie Wonder Did not make B Hot 1002005 "Daughters" performed by John Mayer B Hot 100 #19 2003 "Your Body Is a Wonderland" performed by John Mayer B Hot 100 #18 2002 "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight" performed by James Taylor B Hot 100 #18 The same thing happens in every Grammy category. Huh? You just switched categories! We were talking about the Song of the Year category, not the Best Male Pop Vocal Category. That category doesn't even exist anymore. Unless your song comes from a smaller genre, it will be difficult to get a Pop song a Grammy nomination in the Song of the Year category unless it is somewhat successful. Meaning, a Pop song needs to be somewhat popular on Pop stations. Adam is releasing Pop songs, he is not an Indie or Folk singer. Adam needs to have a single that does fairly well on the Pop charts to get any type of serious consideration for the small group of FIVE songs, that are taken from many genres, for Song of the Year. Also, I'm so totally confused that you were trying to illustrate that you need commercial success to win a Grammy, then two of your seven examples never made the BB 100. Another made it to 25 and the highest was 14. ??? Bottom line, Adam is among the top-tier vocalists among major label recording artists out there. People obviously categorize "vocalists," as we can see by the Mayer saturation above. If the album is as critically successful as we believe it will – and it deserves to be – people will automatically think of Adam for every vocal category. |

Just requested for my DS in Denton/Dallas but I had to include a Train song because he likes them just to keep it real. Don't hate me.  Now if a Houston station adds NCOE, then I will pretend to be my other son but there I will have to add Gotye. LOL. They will never know because they have their own email accounts and never look at their old ones from home. ;D |

OMG, listened to NCOE on Alice radio, SF. First time for me folks !!!! Been listening for 40 minutes and rating each song. Adam's song is by far the best of the bunch I heard so for. Listening to Gotye right now, it's a different sound which I like, but he's not a strong singer. Almost sounds reggae.
