The HAC station I listen to said they aren't playing NCOE yet, but they will soon. Of course, I asked. The couple times I've emailed people at this station, I have received very nice replies. Try it yourself if you haven't already.

Questions about Grammy nominations:
1. Can a song and/or album be nominated only if they crack the billboard top 10 or 100?
2. If NO to #1, if Underneath is not released as a single can it still be nominated in best vocal category?
3. Who submits the nominated artist,song,album... the label or management?
Thanks.

If NO to #1, if Underneath is not released as a single can it still be nominated in best vocal category? 3. Who submits the nominated artist,song,album... the label or management? Thanks. A recording does not need to chart or be released as a single to be nominated. But it needs to be released in some recorded form. Album tracks can be nominated but it would be unusual for them to make the ballot in a major category. Record companies and individuals may submit recordings to be nominated. Major label artist nomination candidates are almost always submitted by their label. Nominations are made online and a physical copy of the work is sent to the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Once a work is entered, reviewing sessions are held, by more than 150 experts from the recording industry, to determine whether the work is eligible and entered in the correct category for official nomination. The resulting list is circulated to all NARAS members, each of whom may vote to nominate in the general field (Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist) and in no more than nine out of 30 other fields on their ballots. The five recordings that earn the most votes in each category become the nominees. There may be more than five nominees if there is a tie in the nomination process. Hits have an advantage: Voters generally need to know the songs and recordings that have been nominated because NARAS members do not receive nominated recordings. There are a lot of different Grammy categories for songs -- the two big ones: Record of the Year is awarded to the performer and the production team of a single song. Song of the Year is awarded to the writer(s)/composer(s) of a single song. A single song DOES NOT MEAN as single released to radio. It just means one song vs. an album or EP. There is also the big vocal category: Best Pop Solo Performance 54th GRAMMY category: Best Pop Solo Performance (S/T) The Best Pop Solo Performance (S/T) is the 54th Annual GRAMMY Award category for any submissions which would have previously been submitted to: Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (S/T) Best Male Pop Vocal Performance (S/T) Best Pop Instrumental Performance (S/T) Category description: For new vocal or instrumental pop recordings. (Singles or Tracks Only)Link: www.grammy.org/recording-academy/announcement/category-mapper/new-category/124673/124753ETA: It is going to be really hard for Adam to get a Grammy nomination because of the changes in categories. They combined the 3 pop performance categories into one -- so he has to beat out male and female vocalists AND solo musicians. I think his best shot will be in Best Pop Vocal Album category.

Of course, there are literally hundreds of nominations in many of the categories. It would be rare for an album or song to get to the top 5 nominations in those categories without having success in whatever genre the album/song is marketed to. 2. It can be nominated, but it won't make it to the top 5 nominations. RCA will submit the singles that were released from the album anyhow.

A song can be submitted for nomination consideration by RCA but that is not a nomination. -- It is not nominated unless it is in the top 5 on the nomination ballot votes. That is why getting a Grammy nomination is a big deal. It is not just some small committee picking the nominees but the entire academy of voters.
The Grammys are all over the board on the songs that get nominated. For example --
2012 Song Of The Year
Rolling In The Deep (winner) and Grenade were both #1 on Billboard Hot 100 All Of The Lights – single #18 on Billboard Hot 100 The Cave #27 on Billboard Hot 100 Holocene – released as a single but did not make Billboard Hot 100
There are a lot of indie musicians and producers and songwriters who get to vote.

I have a very good feeling about NCOE and US Radio. I know just about nothing about radio, but I do too. :D

It is slow today because Adam is "sleeping" -- giving us a day of rest.
