Does anyone know how many tickets have sold? AND why they keep releasing them in groups like this. Seems like an odd way of doing things. IDK, it makes complete sense to me. You have to figure that each "wave" of tickets represents additional staffing, possible permits, arranging of logistics. They aren't going to do all this until they know they're going to need them. If you look at the Gaga vids, there is the main area, then there are additional "pockets" of people stretching back. I am guessing each of those pockets represents a new block of tickets. After each one is committed, they look at all the variables and decide if they can keep it going. If there was some other major event in the area on Thursday, they might not be able to. The city could deny them permission because the additional traffic strain. If not, they can say, "Let's open the next block then." Once they've done that, they have to add more staff and make sure that security, crowd-control, parking and the city are prepared to handle the additional influx of people. I read for Depeche Mode in 2009 they actually shut down Hollywood Blvd. (I remember hearing something like this at the time, but will need to google to confirm). I'm glad they're handling it this way. ETa: anjalee, no, I don't think anyone knows what numbers we're talking about right now.
