Hoppers--thank you for the info and insight. I have often thought that Adam's fans are smart. And I am loving the discussions here today. But listen to this man's music--it's smart too.
I have to point out how we make generalizations and boxes with everything. I am not one who would fit in your catagory of professional with a deep resume. I have taught, and supported my husband through his postgraduate education and now I am a stay at home mom. But I consider myself smart. And I consider myself someone who fights for what is right in the world-even if it doesn't represent my fight. You are absolute spot on when you say my devotion is because I want what is due this phenomenal performer. So what "community" do I fit into? Labels and groupings irk me.
Adam doesn't have to represent ANYONE OR ANY COMMUNITY. He only represents himself.
Love the dinner party analogy. That's one grouping I will accept. A group of men and women from across the globe, joined to celebrate the music, the heart, the beauty, the bravery, the intelligence and the message of the guest of honor. And the diversity of us all.
