Adam Lambert Seals It With A KISS In Chicago May 19th, 2012 at 7:57 am by Anne www.ineedmyfix.com/2012/05/19/adam-lambert-seals-it-with-a-kiss-in-chicago/
Adam Lambert donned a leopard print top and touches of silver in his gorgeous mane of hair and did what he does best: entertain the crowd at the 103.5 KISS FM Chicago 2012 Fantabuloso concert at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois last night.
On Tuesday he released his second LP Trespassing and it's well on its way to becoming number one on the iTunes chart. And if it does, he tweeted that he's going to give us a sneak peek of the NCOE video! Let's go Glambert Nation! We can do it.
Adam has already hit the top 200 on the Billboard chart in only 3 days of its release. It is expected that he will hit the number one spot some time next week.
PJD (@pjd65) Posted Saturday 19th May 2012 from Twitlonger www.twitlonger.com/show/hfqfmt
Not so Quick recap of Fantabuloso (May 18, 2012) My 13yo son and I went to Fantabuloso last night. It was exactly as expected for a radio concert. Lots of filler, lots of time between acts, dumb DJ banter trying to hype up the crowd. It was at the Allstate Arena which is known for its bad sound. I've even heard stories that some artists refuse to play there due the terrible sound! I would only do this for Adam
We got to our seats just as the show was starting. We were to stage right in the first section off the floor. It was a good view of both the stage and the audience. I could clearly see the floor area and most of the tiered seating. The show was not completely sold out, but the floor and lower tier were mostly full and a significant number up in the second tier.
They did a quick video intro of all the acts. Biggest cheers for Enrique and the Wanted, but Adam was definitely above average which surprised me. Keep in mind that Chicago has had VERY little exposure to Adam. Kiss 103.5 barely played WWFM (mostly in the middle of the night) and played IIHY a little bit more. (They also played FYE a few times before it was dropped.) Our other Top40 station (B96) has NEVER played any of his music that I know of. WWFM gets play on the HAC and AC stations. Adam has NEVER done a solo concert in Chicago (OK, this arena is in the suburbs, but it is as close to Chicago as he has been!) The closest GNT got was Hammond Indiana and that was a casino show for only 21 and over.
The show started with Karmin - not going to go into details for all the artists who are not Adam, but they just didn't get me interested. The arena was only about half full at that point & only a few were dancing. Many were just ignoring them completely. 4 songs
A lot more people were there for Cobra Starship and they were pretty good. Most of the audience near me stood for at least part of their act. They had a few songs that most of the audience knew. 5 songs
Havana Brown was next. I do NOT understand the concept of DJ as stage act. Just weird to me to watch someone messing with turntables and equipment as entertainment. Lots of kids danced thru this set, so I guess it was a success? She "sang" her song last. Pretty sure it was just playing and she voiced over a few parts. There were times she had the mic nowhere near her face and still the song continued uninterrupted.
Next was the very creepy Carly Rae Jepson. She was dressed as a 14 yo. She skipped and bopped around the stage like a little girl. I just found out she is in her early 20s! She did 2 songs. First was boring - even the tweens near me who were excited to see her were having trouble getting into it. 2nd was Call Me Maybe. It's a catchy song and all the tweens were dancing like crazy, but it was a total lip-sync and not well done lip-sync.
There was a huge break before Adam. Lots of stage setup and some sort of technical difficulty. They pretty much played music and some of the kids kept dancing, but most of the audience was wandering around or just sitting in their seats. Finally a DJ came out and started trying to get the crown hyped up again. Just a bunch of "who can scream loudest?", "who's the best dancer?" stuff. We were 2.5 hours into this show by then & I think some of the teens were wearing down a little! LOL They eventually told the DJ that the problem was fixed and he introduced Adam. He was enthusiastic but I don't think he really knew much about Adam. Just said something about how he has come way beyond idol and is great. There was a female DJ who introduced a couple earlier acts who actually knew about them and gave way more info - oh well, not a big deal.
Adam sounded far better than anyone before him. The soundsystem is crap, but you can still tell how much better he is! The crowd around me got to their feet for Trespassing. I made a conscious effort to look around the audience and most of the arena seemed interested. Of course, they weren't singing along, but most were standing and grooving a bit to music. Most of the floor was up and maybe 2/3 in the lower tier. Higher tier was hard to judge - too dark. Kickin In was very good, but some of the crowd sat during that and shady. People near me still seemed to be doing a little seat dancing however. WWFM was AMAZING. The entire damn stadium sang along! From where I was, I could hear the sound coming from all over - I got chills I thought Cuckoo got a good response - similar to Trespassing as did NCOE. Given that the vast majority of this audience had NEVER heard these songs before, I was pretty impressed with the reaction. People were paying attention and many were up and dancing. Most of the floor was up for the whole set.
I can't say anything about the rest of the show. My son declared his ears were "tired" so we left after Adam's set. I would have liked to seen Enrique, but not enough to deal with a cranky kid!
Overall, I was really happy with how this went. The show was pretty much exactly as expected for a radio show. The sound is awful - but I think it is better on the sides than on the floor - and Adam still sounded fantastic. He looked happy and danced a lot. Oh yeah, he got a LOT of screams for some of the sexy moves also. LOL

BILLBOARD: Nielsen SoundScan's Building Chart Lambert is No. 1 BILLBOARD Tenacious D, 'Glee' and Garbage Headed for High Debuts on Billboard 200 Chart May 18, 2012 | By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/charts-articles/chart-alert/tenacious-d-glee-and-garbage-headed-for-1007102352.story
While it seems that Adam Lambert is on the verge of his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with Trespassing, a number of other acts are set to debut in the top 20 next week.
Industry sources suggest that Lambert's Trespassing could sell around 70,000 to 80,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, May 20. In a week without any other major new releases, and little competition, that may be enough to debut at No. 1 next week. Adele's 21 will likely be the runner-up, with between 60,000 to 70,000.
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, May 23.
Comedy rock duo Tenacious D (comprised of actors Jack Black and Kyle Glass) could see its Rize of the Fenix album bow in the top 10. The effort -- its first since 2006's The Pick of Destiny soundtrack -- could shift 40,000 to 50,000.
Also on tap for a possible top 10 bow is the latest "Glee" TV soundtrack. The Fox show's Glee, the Music: Season Three - The Graduation Album could move around 40,000 to 50,000. That sort of sales figure will mark the lowest debut for a full-length "Glee" soundtrack album. Of the 10 earlier full-length albums (not counting its live movie soundtrack), the lowest start was earned by the last one: Glee, the Music: Season 3 - Volume 7. It began with 58,000 in December 2011 (according to Nielsen SoundScan).
Rock band Garbage has been absent from the Billboard 200 since 2007, but will finally make its return next week with the new studio set Not Your Kind of People. The album is its first studio offering since 2005's Bleed Like Me, and it is aiming for a launch of around 20,000.
On track to debut with perhaps a bit more than Garbage is Beach House's fourth studio album, Bloom. Both Garbage and Beach House could flirt with a top 10 debut, but a top 20 start is more likely.
On Nielsen SoundScan's Building chart (below), Lambert is No. 1 while Adele's 21 is sitting pretty at No. 2. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants.
As for the rest of the Building Chart: Tenacious D is No. 3, Carrie Underwood's Blown Away is at No. 4 and the "Glee" set is No. 5. The Now 42 compilation is in sixth place, Lionel Richie's Tuskegee is No. 7 and Garbage is No. 8. The "Smash" TV soundtrack is at No. 9 while Beach House's Bloom rounds out the list at No. 10.
iTunes Remains Largest US Music Seller For Fifth Year(from Billboard, May 3, 2012) by Melissa van Kluyve | May 09, 2012 www.entertainmentmanagementonline.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2012/05/09/4fa5899fbc8f5(from Billboard Magazine, May 3, 2012) Digital sales are here to stay. This is proved by iTunes continuing to grow and holding its place as the largest music seller in the US for the fifth consecutive year. In 2011, iTunes’ market share of music sales rose five percentage points from the previous year, to 38.23 percent. This is more than twice that of Anderson Merchandisers, the company who supplies CDs to Best Buy and Wal-Mart. Within digital sales, iTunes is not only dominant in the single tracks market, but album sales as well. When iTunes first snagged the top spot among music merchants in 2007, Wal-Mart and Best Buy were numbers two and three, respectively, with a combined 25.3 percent market share. Over the past five years, however, their shares have fallen considerably and are expected to continue to drop, with a combined share of 17.86 percent in 2011. Moving ahead in music sales is Amazon, with 7.93 percent market share, placing it third in 2011. The online store, that used to be primarily a book retailer, has introduced an MP3 store. Target fell from number four to number five this past year. This more than two percent drop from 2010 is attributed to heavy returns in the early part of 2011. This put Target at a disadvantage as it took a couple months for its net purchases to move into the black. Alliance Entertainment moved past Target to the number four position, taking a six percent market share. The company supplies, packs, and ships CDs straight to purchasers for hundreds of online CD stores. Smaller market shareholders include Trans World Entertainment, Hastings, Starbucks, Newbury Comics, Rhapsody, and Super D. Although not in the top six market share positions, smaller digital accounts are making positive moves. These include Vevo, Microsoft, YouTube, eMusic, and Spotify, showing digital music is strongly on the rise, though iTunes is expected to remain top dog.

The Miami Herald Trespassing Review: Lambert’s Back And You’re Gonna Wanna Dance The Miami Herald > Entertainment Posted on Friday, 05.18.12 Album reviews Lambert’s back and you’re gonna wanna dance By Howard Cohen hcohen@MiamiHerald.com www.miamiherald.com/2012/05/18/2805879/lamberts-back-and-youre-gonna.html
Adam Lambert, Trespassing (RCA) 1/2
Adam Lambert’s post- Idol album, 2009’s For Your Entertainment, wasn’t everything Lambert had hoped it would be (as in a smash hit or an artistic personal statement).
But for the more cohesive follow-up, Trespassing, Lambert took his time and is not content to sit idly by and allow Katy Perry and Rihanna their stranglehold on the pop radio airwaves with their dance hits. Guyliners wanna have fun too.
So for the 15-track Deluxe version of Trespassing Lambert joins 23 other songwriters and 13 producers, including Dr. Luke, Bruno Mars, Nile Rodgers and Pharrell Williams, and executive produces the whole thing. Not surprisingly, Trespassing is every bit as calculated as music-by-committee gets.
The dance-funk beats are au courant updates of ’80s house and ’70s disco mirror ball hustle. The songs are somewhat devoid of personality; playing Spot the Reference could be the basis for a new TV music reality competition: “I can name that musical reference in three notes.”
The title song’s disco bass line sounds so much like Another One Bites the Dust it could be Lambert’s audition for his coming live dates this summer as Queen’s lead singer.
That said, most of the album’s first half, especially the funky Trespassing, proves irresistible contemporary dance-pop at its finest. Pity the album’s second half becomes mired in overproduced, melodramatic ballads that threaten to sink even a fine melody like Outlaws of Love, Lambert’s plea for equality.
Stick to the infectious first half, and you’ll be in aerobic dance heaven.

PEOPLE Style Watch: What Inspired Adam Lambert’s Latest Hair Look? PEOPLE Style Watch What Inspired Adam Lambert’s Latest Hair Look? MAY 18 2012 04:30 PM ET stylenews.peoplestylewatch.com/2012/05/18/what-inspired-adam-lamberts-latest-hair-look/
Along with releasing his sophomore album this week, Adam Lambert also debuted a new silver-streaked hair do.
“I wanted it to look like sunrise,” Lambert told PEOPLE last night at the American Idol results show. “My hairdresser and I have a lot of fun. Both of us get bored very easily—so it’s like, ‘What are we going to do now?’”
The American Idol alum, who stopped by his old stomping ground to perform his single “Never Close Your Eyes,” was also in better shape than ever before.
Lambert said he lost weight the old-fashioned way—watching what he eats. “Oh, you know, just being a little bit smarter with the junk food,” the singer revealed to reporters. “Skipping the ice cream that I love so much!”
Ice cream isn’t the singer’s only vice—cheese is, too. “I miss cheese,” he joked. “I really like cheese, but I haven’t been eating so much of it.”
